Brief Introduction to CUPL
      China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) is a multi-disciplinary national “211
Project” key university，characterized by centering on law, accompanied with a variety of other
disciplines such as literature, historiography，philosophy, economics, management and education.
In its 50 years’ development, CUPL has fostered more than 200 thousand graduates of different
levels, taken part in virtually very legislation activities of the state since its foundation and led the
jurisprudence theoretical innovation as well as the legal conceptual renewal of China, representing
its international exchanges in the field of law. At present, the university has 17 undergraduate
disciplines，48 master’s degree conferring institutions, 19 Ph. D. conferring institutions and 2
post-doctoral research stations, forming the largest group of jurists in China. It currently has a
faculty of 889 members, among which 141 are doctoral advisers, 577 are professors or associate
professors.
      The university has established international relationship with around 140 famous universities
of more than 22 different countries or regions. Hundreds of teachers or students are sent abroad
each year for study and exchange through various joint-education programs, and the pattern of
fostering international legal talents has taken form. At present, the university has formed a
disciplinary system of complete range, rich content and distinct advantage. Foreign students’
education scale expands from summer school for Chinese training, pre-degree education in China,
medium/long-term Chinese and law study to the education for undergraduate, dual-degree
bachelor, master and doctor. The university has long been engaged in global promotion of Chinese
language and Chinese culture education to provide superior teaching resources and services,
especially the Chinese law culture, for Chinese learners.


The Program
     The School of International Education, China University of Political Science and Law offers
Chinese language courses and legal Chinese courses of various types and levels, to provide
superior teaching services for oversea students with different Chinese levels and other foreigners
staying in China.


Class for Advanced Chinese Training
   1). Enrollment Objects and Qualifications
   Students can choose elementary, intermediate or advanced courses according to their own
Chinese levels.
    2). Period of Study
    Study period is divided into a term and a year. Each term is no less than 18 weeks, and each
week no less than 15 study hours.
    In order to adapt to the special circumstances of different students, they can choose their study
time freely; tuition fee will be calculated monthly.
    3). Curriculum Provision
    Chinese listening, Chinese speaking, Chinese elementary reading，Chinese writing，Chinese
grammar, knowledge about Chinese characters, Chinese culture，Chinese humanistic geography,
popular science reading, Chinese newspaper reading, Elementary Chinese translation, China’s
national conditions, modern and contemporary history of China, Chinese customs,
Computer-using Chinese editing, etc.
    4). Fees
    Application fee is 350 RMB; Tuition fee is 7,500 RMB per student per term, 15,000 RMB per
student per year.


Summer School for Chinese Language Intensive Training
    1). Enrollment Objects and Qualifications
    Students can choose elementary, intermediate or advanced courses according to their own
Chinese levels.
    2). Period of Study
    Study period is 4 weeks, from 18th July to 15th August. By way of reinforcement learning;
teaching time is no less than 36 hours per week.
    3). Curriculum Provision
    Chinese listening and speaking, Chinese grammar, Chinese culture, Chinese humanistic
geography, popular science reading, topic speaking, Chinese newspaper reading, modern and
contemporary history of China, Chinese customs, etc.
    4). Fees
    Application fee is 350 RMB; Tuition fee is 4,500 RMB per student. Scholarship is applied
from the Chinese government. It is quite easy to get it. CUPL can help you to apply.


Summer School of Chinese Culture
   1). Enrollment Objects and Qualifications
   Foreigners who want to study Chinese language and know about Chinese culture.
   2). Period of Study
   Study period is four weeks, from 18th July to 15th August.
   3). Curriculum Provision
   Chinese listening and speaking，Chinese grammar, Chinese culture，Chinese humanistic
geography, modern and contemporary history of China, Chinese customs, calligraphy, Wushu etc.
and various visiting activities.
   4). Fees
   Application fee is 350 RMB; Tuition fee is 4,500 RMB per student. Scholarship is applied
from the Chinese government. It is quite easy to get it. CUPL can help you to apply.
Chinese Practice Class
    1). Enrollment Objects and Qualifications
    Foreign students who want to participate in Chinese practice activities.
    2). Period of Study
    Study period is 4 weeks (the concrete study time could be determined according to the foreign
students’ requirements.)
    3). Curriculum Provision
    Chinese listening and speaking, Chinese grammar, Chinese reading, hot topics, Chinese
culture, Chinese humanistic geography, modern and contemporary history of China, Chinese
customs, etc and the social practice activities carried out together with the students from the
Chinese department of CUPL.
    4). Fees
    Application fee is 350 RMB; Tuition fee is 3,500 RMB per student .(If study period is more
than four weeks, the fee will be determined in accordance with the above price.)


Class for Legal Chinese
    1). Enrollment Objects and Qualifications
    Foreigners who want to conduct academic exchanges and learn Chinese legal culture.
    2). Period of Study
    Study period is divided into a term and a year. Each term is no less than 18 weeks, and each
week no less than 15 study hours.
    3). Curriculum Provision
    Chinese and legal courses such as: Chinese reading, practical writing, hot topics, Chinese
culture, criminal law, civil law, criminal procedure law, civil procedure law etc; seminars, visits
and exchange activities with the legal practical departments of China.
    4). Fees
    Application fee is 350 RMB; Tuition fee is 29,000 RMB per student per year.


Class for Advanced Chinese Study on Weekend Days
    1). Enrollment Objects and Qualifications
    Foreign students who want to study Chinese language or other foreigners who live or work in
China.
    2). Period of Study
    Study period is divided into one term or one year, on Saturday and Sunday. Each term is no
less than 18 weeks. In order to adapt to different students’ special circumstances, students can
choose their learning time freely; tuition fee will be calculated monthly.
    3). Curriculum Provision
    Chinese listening, Chinese speaking, Chinese elementary reading，Chinese writing，Chinese
grammar, knowledge about Chinese characters, Chinese culture，Chinese humanistic geography,
popular science reading, Chinese newspaper reading, Elementary Chinese translation, China's
national conditions, modern and contemporary history of China, Chinese customs,
Computer-using Chinese editing, etc.

    Application fee is 350 RMB; Tuition fee is 3,000 RMB per student per semester, 6,000 RMB
per student per year.


Pre-degree Education Admission Brochure for Foreign Students
    1). Enrollment Objects and Qualifications

    Foreigners who expect to apply for the degree education of undergraduate, master and doctor

in China University of Political Science and Law, or other foreigners who want to engage in legal

studies in China.

    2).Period of Study

    Study period is divided into 6 weeks (from 19th July to 22nd August in summer), a term or a

year. Each week is no less than 15 study hours, each term no less than 18 weeks.

    3). Curriculum Provision

    Chinese and legal courses such as: Chinese listening, Chinese speaking, Chinese elementary

reading, Chinese writing, Chinese grammar，knowledge about Chinese characters, Chinese culture,

Chinese humanistic geography, modern and contemporary history of China, Chinese customs,

civil law, criminal law, criminal procedure law, civil procedure law etc.

    Legal courses could be determined according to the majors applied for by the students and

offered in accordance with the Educational Plans of the School. The credits achieved can be

included in the total credits of the plans.

    4). Fees
    Application fee is 350 RMB; Tuition fee is 10,000 RMB per student per semester, 20,000
RMB per student per year; Fee for the pre-degree foundation courses in summer is 4,000 RMB per
student.


Travelling Study
   Organize students to visit the scenic spots and historical sites in Beijing and other parts of
China in their free time, and let them enjoy the great scenery and experience the extensive and
profound Chinese culture.


Scholarship
    All the students learning Chinese, the senior scholars and the visiting scholars in the School of
International Education, who apply for the degree education of undergraduate, master and doctor
and are accepted by CUPL, can obtain the scholarship.


Application for Admission
     Submit four recent 2-inch bareheaded and full-faced photographs, a copy of passport with its
number page, and fill the "China University of Political Science and Law Application Form for

students.)
     Successful applicants go to the embassy of the People’s Republic of China locating in their
own country to apply for a visa by taking along the “Visa Application Form for Foreign Students
studying in China” issued by China University of Political Science and Law, JW202 Form and
Letter of Admission.


Accommodations
    Students can live in the students’ apartments arranged by the School of International
Education, or look for accommodations by themselves.


Completion of Schooling and Entry into a Higher Grade
     Students, studying in the School of International Education and passing all the relevant tests,
will gain the course-completion certificates issued by the school. For the students who expect to
apply for the degree education of undergraduate, master or doctor, we will admit the best through
examinations.
