					From Mark:

if a cactus had leaves instead of spikes then...... animals can eat it or drink its water.
if a beaver had human teeth then...... they would not be able to build their homes or chew wood.
if a porcupine had no quills then......... its predators would kill it

From Sharon:
What if a Cactus had Leaves?

What would happen if a cactus had leaves instead of spines? If cactuses didn’t have spines there
would be no way that they would survive against predators like birds and lots of other animals that
feed on it for water. Cactuses have water stored inside of them because they live in the desert and
the desert has no water.

Also if the cactus has leaves they would dry out quickly and die. Spines are very different than
leaves because spines consist of just a core of fibres surrounded by sclerotic-like epidermis cells.
They have no stomata, no guard cells, no mesophyll parenchyma, no xylem and no phloem. All this
stuff prevents spines to not dry out in the deserts, but in the deserts the leaves would dry out.
Some cacti spines act as water-gatherers, trapping mist, fog and night-time dew, and dribbling it on
to the roots. But one good thing about having leaves is that the leaves will help the cactus into more
growth.

From Andy:
If a porcupine had no quills it will be very vunerable to it's predators because if the porcupine
didn't have quills it might turn endangered because its predators will catch and eat the porcupine
with no challenge and keep on eating porcupines because it is easy to catch it. If the porcupine has
quills it wouldn't be that vunerable to its preadators because the sharp quills will injure its
preadator and the predator would not bother trying to catch the porcupine because it got injured
while trying to catch the porcupine.

From David:
A porcupine had no quills?

If a porcupine had no quills, it would not be able protect itself from predators which means it would
be eaten easily. Also, the porcupine would not be able to shoot it's quills to tell a predator to back
off.

A beaver had teeth like a human?

The poor beaver would not be able to chip wood as fast as before to build it's home. Also I believe
that some beavers make dams so, this might lead to flooding in our world, which would be kind of
sad.
From Ryan:
If a beaver had teeth like a human, it would not be able to cut down trees very well, so it wouldn't
have a home. They're dams help the ecosystem in many ways. They would also not be able to get and
eat they're food as well. This would be be bad for them as they would die out from lavk of food and
sehalters. This is why it is good they adapted.

From Alex:
if a porcupine did not have quills it would die because it would not be able then to defend itself

From Wilson:
                                        What Would Happen If?
If an oak tree had no roots to firmly plant it to the ground it would easily tip and fall, crushing
other things.
If a porcupine had no quills it would be targeted as easy prey and get eaten because it has no other
defenses.
If a garter snake was purple it would be easy to spot so its prey would run away before it got a
chance to attack.
If a beaver had teeth like a human it wouldn’t be able to chew through wood or build its dam.

From Crystal:
What would happen if a beaver had teeth like a human?

I think, if a beaver had teeth like a human that...It would not be able to build a shelter
Beavers use wood to build dams and shelters above. it couldnt chop down trees with human teeth! It
would starve from not being able to eat bark It wouldnt be able to chew down bark with our
teeth. It would die from the reasons above Withought being able to eat and not having a shelter,
it would surely die.

From Brittany:
If an oak tree had no roots, in natural disasters, or anything like a windy day or a storm, oak trees
would be everywhere because they would not be connected to the ground. the roots keep trees
strong in the ground. More damage will be done to properties and could even kill people.

If squirrels did not gather nuts in the fall, the squirrels would all die while in hibernation because
they would starve. The world would be cluttered with dead squirrel bodies and the Earth would smell
like death. People would be disgusted and never go outside, therefore reducing the excersize of
people, also making people overweight overtime.

From Joyce:
If a garter snake was bright purple, it would have no camoflauge in the grass so it would be easily
seen by predators. If the predators found it would result in death.
From Ariana:
What if squirrels did not gather nuts in the fall?

A squirrel is a mammal. But most squirrels don't have thick, warm fur or grow a second
layer. Since they are a mammals, they also give live birth to their young. As baby squirrels grow up,
they need food. If squirrels didn't gather nuts for the winter then thousands of squirrel families
every winter would die of starvation. If the mother decides to leave her young and go gather nuts
in the ice cold snow, then she would probably freeze to death.

From Kyle:
If a beaver had teeth like a human, it could not chew wood, making it not able to make a home and
not get the nutrients needed.

From Chris:
if squirrels did not gather nuts in the fall, the squirrels would starve to death in the winter. I know
this because in winter, there are no nuts to find with all that snow, and it is super cold so it would
die even if it went out of its nest. if a squirrel cannot eat or find food, it will starve to death.

From Masum:
a beaver had teeth like a human?
If a beaver had teeth like a human then it would not be able to bite into bark, wood, to eat. It would
not be able to make it dam.

geese did not fly south for the winter?

Then it would freeze and die in the winter, because it does not have that much blubber to keep
itself warm.

a garter snack was bright purple?
If a garter snake was purple then it would not be able to camouflage and it's prey would find it
easily.

From Tiffany:
What would happen if a beaver had teeth like a human?

If a beaver had teeth like a human, they wouldn't be able to cut down trees. If they don't get their
wood from the trees, the beavers won't be able to build their dams. Their dams protect themselves
from predators and without them, the beaver species would probably go extinct.

If a beaver had teeth like a human they might go extinct.

From Leo:
If a wood pecker had a blunt beak, then it would not be able to get the bugs that are hidden in a
tree's trunk and the species would become extinct because the loss of food also the bugs on trees
would thrive making trees become easier to die and it will go on and on and on and until all animals on
earth became extinct.
From Mabel:
                                     What Would Happen If.....

A garter snake was bright purple?
If a garter snake was bright purple, then this would lower the chances of its survival. Why? A
garter snake is small and is able to camoflage into stones, tall grass and plants because of its natural
brown, gray or dark green colour. However, if it was bright purple, then it would be unable to
camoflage around its surroundings. The garter snake depends on camoflaging so that it can sneak up
on its prey or hide from its predatoures. Sooner or later it would starve or be killed by its natural
predator. That is why the garter snake's natural wilderness like colour is so important.

  2. A woodpecker had a blunt beak?

If a woodpecker had a blunt beak then it would be impossible to continue its life style in many ways.
For example, a woodpecker uses it's sharp beak to make its nest because they do not know how to
make one out of dried grass and plants the way other birds do. Then, it would be harder for the
woodpecker to hide from hunters and other predators so they would have to rely more on flying.
Another way the woodpecker uses its beak is to feed. It can find termites, small bugs, worms and
grubs living inside the wood to eat. The wood itself is a source of food for the woodpecker. The
woodpecker must rely on its sharp beak in order to survive.

  3. Squirrels did not gather nuts in the fall?

Nuts are squirrels main source of food. It is full of the nutrients squirrels need to survive. Squirrels
gather food in the fall do that when they are hibernating, they have food around them that they can
eat once all the food is gone in the winter. They store food underground so they can remember
where it is in the winter. If they forget to collect food in the winter or get lazy, they will die easily
in the winter. There has been more then one story or novel about a squirrel and another animal about
how the squirrel collects food (which is hard work) and the other animal laughs at the squirrel and
plays and wastes his time in the fall. Once it is winter time, the squirrel is well fed and warm as the
other animal is cold and hungry. He begs the squirrel for some food and learns his lesson. That is an
example of why a squirrel or any other hibernating animal needs to store food.

 4. A beaver had teeth like a human?

Beavers live in dams. Dams are made of wood. The beavers always knaw the wood into shape and cut
and build the wood into a dam. The dam keeps them safe and hidden. They also use their teeth for
feeding on wood. Humans however, have softer more delicate teeth not meant for chewing on wood.
They break more easily and are always losing and chipping teeth on hard surfaces. If beavers were
chewing on wood with the teeth of a human, and constantly breaking and chipping their teeth, they
can not chew wood and cannot make dams and therefore are unable to survive.

These are my four what ifs. Enjoy!
From Jessica:
What would happen if a woodpecker had a blunt beak?

If a woodpecker had a blunt beak, it obviously wouldn’t be able to get food from trees and
probably would have to feed on other things. But if their only food supply is a colony of insects
buried deep in a trunk of a tree, first of all, it wouldn’t get as much food and it wouldn’t be as likely
to reproduce. It wouldn’t be able to grip onto things as easily but it also wouldn’t make as much noise
to the people and animals around them. So if a woodpecker had a blunt beak, it wouldn’t even be
called a woodpecker!

What would happen if a porcupine didn’t have any quills?

If a porcupine had no quills, it would basically die because there would be no other way to
defend itself against predators and would just get eaten. The quills on a porcupine also work as a
warning system to other animals, so without its quills, other animals might also suffer. It wouldn’t be
able to threaten predators to back off and their species would soon go extinct, and it would just be
another useless animal in the world. None of its predators would be afraid of agony while
approaching it now.

These are some of the few disadvantages for these bizzare possibilities.
