Change Manager 5.1 Beta Program
What’s New in Change Manager
We are currently recruiting Beta Program participants. If you would like
to participate, please speak to your Account Representative or register Data Masking
online at: https://beta.embarcadero.com/ Change Manager 5.1 Ultimate Edition now includes the ability to mask
data in the data comparison job with auto-synchronization. Support is
built on technology from DT/Studio and supports randomization and
New Features at a Glance shuffling:
Improvements in schema, data, and the general functionality.
• Auto-Synchronization options on the data comparison (using the Randomization: each value from the source database is inspected and a
DT/Engine) and schema comparison jobs to make the target match corresponding new value is added to the target. For the case of a string
the source when the job is run value, a random alpha numeric of the same length is generated.
“Gordon” might become “Ztsajw” for example.
• Data Masking: shuffle or randomize columns in a data comparison
with auto-synchronization job
Shuffling: values on the source are randomly assigned to different rows
• Unicode support on the target. This preserves the set of data on the source but removes
• Cross-DBMS platform schema comparison between Oracle and the connection between the data in a row.

• Data comparison job history, track high level results of previous Steps to Get Started

• Reworked schema comparison results: actions and comparison NOTE: In 5.1 Change Manager is unable to mask columns that are part
outcomes clearly enumerated, quick-type filtering, counts of of a primary and foreign keys. This will be available in an upcoming
resolution types, clearer layout release.
• Email notification enhancements including a test button in the
configuration setup and contact imports/exports Cross-DBMS Platform Schema Compare & Sync
• Integrates with DB Optimizer and Rapid SQL Developer in the Migrate, compare, and synchronize schemas between database
same shell platforms using a schema comparison job with source and target of
various types.
• Updated data comparison mapping page adding high level alerts
and warnings when mappings are invalid and incomplete, set
custom warning levels for situations such as length mismatches, Now Change Manager Professional and Ultimate editions can compare
constraints on the target, and precision/scale differences and sync Oracle with SQL Server as well as Sybase with SQL Server:

Change Manager 5.1 is Easier to Use
Change Manager 5.1 introduces usability enhancements to make it easier to learn and get started and to provide clearer results and action plans for
schema and data comparison jobs.
A new Welcome dialog includes steps and tutorials for getting started with basic tasks, shows recently changed jobs, recently run jobs, and provides
quick actions to jump right to creating a new job.
A new wizard bar walks users through configuring jobs with a Finish button suggesting next steps:
The schema comparison results page has a completely new layout, separating comparison status with the suggested action, organizing the actions and
filters, new counts of action types (number of extended alters, drops, etc.), quick-type filtering to find objects, and a detailed exportable report for an
object of what internals Change Manager matched and/or did not match.
The data comparison mapping page now shows high level status markers for incomplete mappings and allows for customization of how severe various
scenarios should be considered: no comparison key, column data types are incompatible, table dependency cycles, target length is shorter, and so on.
Schema Object Support
Support for a platform does not necessarily indicate that every object on that platform can be managed using Change Manager’s schema jobs. Refer to
the tables below for object support, and forward any requests or feedback to development. The objects supported by 5.1 have not changed but the
depth and accuracy of support is improved for many objects and platforms.
