					Hood Tech Reports 20m Geolocation with Miniature GPS/INS for UAVs

Hood Tech's new imaging systems include GPS to enable small UAVs to read
license plates and to hold laser spots on targets from beyond audible
range.

Hood River, OR, December 04, 2012 -- Hood Technology reports 20 meter
geolocation accuracy with miniature GPS/INS.

According to Hood Tech's Dr. Andy von Flotow: “Even using external 3rd-
party GPS/INS, our stabilized video imaging payloads enable small
unmanned aircraft systems to read license plates and hold laser spots on
small targets, all from beyond audible range. Our customer’s exploit the
resulting design freedom to minimize system complexity and cost.”

Dr. von Flotow continues: “But since some applications will benefit from
accurate image geolocation, we’ve demonstrated better-than 20m accuracy
by embedding a miniature GPS/INS, adding as little as 100gm and 3W.
Although this optional enhancement to our products will find some demand,
some UAS integrators will prefer to continue to save the associated
weight, power and cost penalty.”
