I have just enjoyed a nice hot summer vacation. I was able to download many songs into my MP3 player. One of these songs described how I am feeling at this time in my life. It is by the band "Pink Floyd". And its title is "Time". This summer I was responsible for just a few things- mowing and reading for my AP English class. Other than that, I had a lot of time on my hands. And early in this song there are the lyrics- "Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day". Which seemed to be my first thoughts on waking up. The following lyric in this song is - "You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way", which completely describes the many summer hours of time I fritter and waste on my X-Box. Of course, then the lyrics say- "Waiting for someone or something to show you the way". This makes me think that I have to take the responsibility of figuring out what it is that I want to do with my life. I can not ignore the fact that time is passing even though at this moment I have much to spare and a game to finish. The next lyrics that catch my attention is- "And then one day you find 10 years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun." This makes me understand that even though I have time on my hands at this moment in my life, that I should not be wasting it. I need to figure out how to get to my goals now and not wait. Sometimes people can take too much time and then they are too old to reach their goals and then have to settle for less than what they really wanted to do. The last lyrics I want to point out is- "The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older." Even though I will age and so will every one else I want to be sure that I have accomplished what I wanted to do. Many years from now under the same sun I want to be proud of all that I have done. And this song reminds me of both of enjoying the time I have now but make good use of the time too.
