On Demand Writing Plans
MONDAY Target: Write a response that addresses the correct audience, in correct letter format, and
supports your response to the given On Demand Prompt using SPAT.
Activities: Activities will vary based on class progression and interruptions to the class schedule.
         1.Model reading and locating key information in the prompt and developing the SPAT outline.
2. Review the steps of S = situation P = purpose A = audience T = task and how help develop a correct
and more accurate response. 3. Teacher model and student work through the process together. 4.
Students work to complete the SPAT process independently for a prompt. 5. Students work to respond
using SPAT and a final publication for an On Demand prompt. 6. Completed pieces will be scored using
an On Demand writing rubric and reviewed with the class after they are graded to further improve
individual On Demand writing skills.
Standards: 2.W.1 – support topic, 2.W.5 – edit/revise, 2.L.2a capitalization, 2.L.2b comma use
Assessment: Observation, SPAT work, and On Demand writing responses.
