NATURE OF INCIDENT: Updated information regarding house fire

 The following information has been provided through the St. Cloud Fire Department regarding the
 investigation into the house fire at the above address. The fire has been determined to be accidental in
 nature and the investigation has been closed. The fire started in the kitchen and extended thoughout the
 walls, ceilings and roof of the ballon framed structure. On 11/27/2012 an Electrical Engineer determined
 that two rear burners on the electric stovetop were in the on position and operating at the time of the fire,
 one burner being on high, the other was on medium-high. A disabled smoke alarm was found on a shelf in
 the victim's upstairs bedroom with the battery removed. The structure was not equipped with a fire sprinkler
 system. Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the incident. The other victim, identified
 as Kevin Matthew Murphy, a 22 year old male from St. Cloud, was treated for his injuries, including smoke
 inhilation, at the St. Cloud Hospital the night of the incident. Murphy's location inside the residence at the
 time of the fire is unknown.
