SUMMARY: Public Act 97-18 made several changes to Section 8.2 of the Workers'
Compensation Act that sets forth the basis for the Medical Fee Schedule. The
Medical Fee Schedule is composed of the reimbursement rate for medical services
provided for a compensable workplace injury. The proposed amendment
implements the changes of Public Act 97-18 that include a 30% reduction to the
Medical Fee Schedule effective September 1, 2011; a new reimbursement provision
for medical implants as 25% above the net manufacturer's invoice price less
rebates, plus actual and reasonable customary shipping prices; and a new provision
for the reimbursement of out-of-state medical services.
