                    Principal’s Report
                    Dear Parents,
The children in Years 3 and 5 will do the National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy
(NAPLAN) this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. It is important the children
participate in these assessments as they provide valuable information to parents and schools alike. It
is also important the children feel positive and that they will do the very best they possibly can.
These classes have been preparing for this over the last few weeks.

A P & C Meeting will be held on Wednesday evening, everyone is welcome to attend.

On Thursday evening we will have our first SRC Disco of the year with a 'Horror' theme. Friday is
Loud Shirt Day, wear your ‘loudest’ shirt and bring a gold coin donation to raise money for the
‘Giving Deaf Children a Voice’ foundation.

I hope all the mums had a great day yesterday.

This week is National Volunteers Week. I would like to take this opportunity to express my
sincerest thanks to all those who have volunteered their valuable time in so many different ways
throughout the year and we look forward to your continuing support.

                    John Francis, Principal

                     P& C News
Thanks to everyone who donated items and volunteered their time to assist with the Mother’s Day

Paul Kelly Cup
Well done to the boys in Years 5 and 6 who represented the school in the Paul Kelly Cup, in Finley
last Wednesday. Our team was very competitive, winning two out of four matches. They displayed
great skills and sportsmanship and were a pleasure to take away. Thank you also to the parents
and supporters who came over to cheer us on.

                          Community Sport
The one that didn’t get away!
The children in Years 3 to 6 have been enjoying participating in Community
Sport for the past two Fridays. Sports available include golf, bowls, tennis
                          and fishing.
There was great excitement last week in the fishing group when Mathilda
Noble landed a good sized silver perch. Silver perch are a protected species
in these waters so after some quick photo snaps, Mathilda carefully released
the fish back into the river.
Our Community Sport program continues this week. We will then have a
break for the Cross Country and then the children will swap to a second sport
                          for three weeks.
Thank you to all parents and community members who are assisting with our
                          program.

Debating Challenge Training Day
On the 6th May Emma, Jessie, Olivia, Nicola, Robert and Troy went to Deniliquin for a Debating
Day. First of all they started by introducing themselves. Their names were Tony, Dana and Alice.
They started to talk about the three “M’s” Manner, Matter and Method. We then played a game
called Parachutes and another game. We went out and had recess.
After recess they talked about Affirmative and Negative and played a game where if they threw
the ball at you, you had to debate about what they said. Then we had lunch.
After lunch we had to write a debate about why we shouldn’t have home work. Olivia, Emma and
Troy were the Affirmative. Jessie, Nicola and Robert were the Negative. Barooga was up against
Barooga but they didn’t pick a winner. Then we went home.
We all enjoyed it and learnt a lot.

This week Kinder has learnt about Connie Confidence. These are the words for the
Ricky Resilience Song.

   Verse 1 Chorus Verse 2
