   INTRODUCTION

Main objective is to train International executives able to be innovative and competitive when managing wine
industry enterprises.
Fundamental sciences were acquired with a BSci, while the MSci will mainly develop methods of savoir-faire
and behaviour contributing to give students a managing attitude reinforced by some working experience in a
company.
From the beginning, an International dimension has been integrated, gathering 8 European Universities (and
now 9 universities and schools) and enforcing the student to think ‘International’ when building up all different
steps of this training.
A comprehensive and comparative analysis (from production to management of the wine industry) of the
various International systems of production relying on active teaching methods gives this MS its originality.
In addition, environmental and ‘terroir’ issues will be particularly approached, as key notions of the present
world wine industry.

In relation with Institutions and wine industry companies

Academic committee set out objectives and contents of the Msci, Two external experts will be invited to
reinforce the academic committee ensuring scientific and professional qualities. Furthermore, some countries
such as France may associate with the region wine industry to develop the MS
Integrating professionals aims at bringing together the students skills and the wine industry demands.
Students will be prepared to deal with the international marketplace, through a project work implementing
innovation within a company, or a professional organism, or a research laboratory, for a six-month period,
preferably abroad.

In relation with the students

The European dimension of the MS gives the students three assets:

A degree of Master is delivered by French Ministry of Education. A degree of Master is also delivered by
           some of the partner Universities, according to bilateral agreements with Groupe ESA;
The student approaches other cultures and is able to handle international marketing issues,
Linguistic skills should lead the future managers to a greater mobility.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the studies, students will be expected to have the ability to analyse and implement quality
production strategies within the European wine industry. The MS is meant to form students with innovation and
quality management skills to develop competitiveness and added value in the European wine industries.
Putting into practice knowledge and skills to the diverse sectors of the ‘filiere’ should enable the new graduate
to act as a harmonizer and interface negotiator between production and markets.

Accordingly, Institutions and Universities will operate according to their areas of excellency. Additional
specialisation can be acquired when the student completes his thesis.

Eventually, through each module, future managers should achieve a wide knowledge of wine taking into
account ‘terroir’ and environment, and be prepared to stand up in a more and more competitive marketplace in
which wine has become a feature of everyday life.

ADMISSION TO THE COURSE

To be eligible for admission to the programme, an applicant must:
Either has an equivalent academic status to an EU (European Union) BS degree (3 years of higher
           scientific education),

                                                                                                                    45

Prove his understanding proficiency of French and English (or commit oneself to take an intensive
language course before they start the programme),

AWARDED DEGREE(S)

The level is MSci level. National degrees from the participating Universities can be awarded with regard to each
university’s criteria. Each University should examine the possibility of validating the programme. The validation
should correspond to a Master’s degree.
All participating Universities should acknowledge the degree awarded by each of them at the completion of the
programme. They will deliver to Graduates a Certificate co-signed by each university to any successful student.
An Examination Board will meet every year to ratify the results and decide the Certificates to be delivered.
If they fill Groupe ESA’s criteria, students will be awarded a “Diplôme National de Master” (National Diploma of
MSc) given by the French Ministry of Education and Research.

If the graduate meets the requirements, he/she can obtain several double- degrees (at least the French
