WELCOME TO THE MOST COLORFUL 5K YOU’LL EVER RUN
If you’re OCD, you might want to put on a Haz-
Mat suit because things are about to get pretty
rad in Phoenix.
But let’s be honest, you’re gonna want to take
off that Haz-Mat suit, emerge from your fallout
shelter and bask in clouds of color because
Color Me Rad Phoenix is about to make you
look like a 5-year-old that just ate a box of
crayons in the middle of class.
Luckily, this smorgasbord of color doesn’t end with a trip to the principal’s office or the ER, but with
a big, guiltless smile all over your color-stained pearly whites.
In order to prep you for the festivities, (1) LIKE us on Facebook
(www.facebook.com/colormerad5K) where we’ll give you any last minute updates, (2) share the
Phoenix Facebook Event so your friends and family know where to find you in case of an all-out
Color Bombing, (3) check out this important info below.
PACKET PICKUP
Where? Tortoise and Hare Sports
17550 North 75th Avenue #605
Glendale, AZ 85308
When? Thursday, November 1st from 3 pm to 7 pm
Friday, November 2nd from 11am to 7 pm
Why? We’ve got the goods and we want to give you the goods. You or one of your
loving, self-sacrificing teammates needs to pick up your packets at packet
pickup.
You can pick up packets for you, your friends, your teammates, other teams,
as long as each of those people have signed a waiver (see below).
What do I get? You’ll get the newest and best t-shirt in your closet (look right), a
sweet set of CMR sunglasses, a race bib, a CMR tattoo and
other fine race swag.
If you purchased a white Color Me Rad t-shirt or additional Color
Bombs when you registered, you’ll pick them up at packet
pickup as well.
You’ll get your free COLOR BOMB right before you cross the finish line for the
festivities. You’re going to want that for the finale when it turns into a class 5
tornado of color. So we’d recommend holding onto it for the final color throw,
but we’ll also have extra color you can buy if you can’t hold back and want to
dump it all over yourself.
Can I buy stuff? Yep. We’ll have sparkly clean Color Me Rad white t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops,
hats, bandannas, socks and other merchandise, ripe for the picking.
On-Site Registration? We will show mercy on all of your family and friends who have procrastinated
the day of their registration. We will be accepting registrations on a first come
first serve basis on both packet pickup days and on the morning of the race,
until we reach our capacity. But tell your slow moving friends not to risk being
left out at the last minute by registering today.
WAIVER!!! This is super-important because we’re doing everything we can to keep our
legal records clean as a whistle ever since that misdemeanor for curfew
violation back in college.
EACH REGISTRANT MUST SIGN THE WAIVER IN ORDER TO GET YOUR
RACE BIB. NO WAIVER = NO BIB = NO RUNNING.
If you login here: http://www.colormerad.com/member/login.i and it says “View
the Waiver (you already signed it),” that means you’ve already signed it, so
nice job. If it says, “Sign the Waiver,” click on it and digitally sign it by typing
your name at the bottom.
ALSO, ALL ADULTS RUNNING WITH A MINOR, YOU MUST SIGN THE
WAIVER FOR YOUR MINOR. NO WAIVER = NO RUNNING = TEARS &
RESENTMENT. In this case, you need to sign an actual waiver for them. So
either (a) go to the homepage, click on “Waiver” at the bottom, pick your race
and click “Print Waiver;” or (b) come to packet pickup and we’ll have some
copies for you to sign there.

RACE DAY INFO
When? November 3rd with the first wave at 8:00 AM and waves every 5-10 minutes
after.
Where? Peoria Sports Complex
16101 N. 83rd avenue
Peoria, AZ 85382
Race-Day Packet Pickup
If you live far away (an hour or more), you will be able to pickup your packets
on race day but this is ONLY for those that live far away and you will need to
come EARLY—at least an hour early. Again, this is ONLY for those that live
far away. If people that live close to the race procrastinate and try to pickup
their packets on race morning, there will be lines longer than a Justin Bieber
book signing and you may miss out on the color.
If you need to make other special arrangements, please email us at
info@colormerad.com and we’ll help you out.
Race-Day Registration?
If there are still spots open, we will let you fill ‘em. We will be accepting
registrations on the morning of the race, until we reach our capacity. Please
have late registrants show up at least an hour early to ensure that they get
registered in time. Better yet, have them register now or at packet pickup,
before the long lines start forming.
Traffic and Parking It is anticipated that the Agua Fria Freeway (FWY 101) exit at W Bell Rd will
see the heaviest amount of traffic so we advise you to avoid this area and get
creative with navigating yourselves to the race venue.
To avoid traffic if you are coming from the north on the Agua Fria Freeway
(FWY 101) consider taking the W Union Hills Dr. exit. Head west on W Union
Hills Dr. until you hit N 83 Ave and then head south a few miles until you see
the Peoria Sports Complex on your left.
To avoid traffic if you are coming from the south on the Agua Fria Freeway
(FWY 101) consider taking the Thunderbird Road exit. Head east on
Thunderbird Road until you hit N 83 Ave and then head north a few miles until
you see the Peoria Sports Complex on your right hand side.
ALSO, JUST A REMINDER THAT THIS IS A VERY LARGE EVENT SO
EXPECT SOME TRAFFIC JUST AS IF YOU WERE GOING TO A CONCERT
OR SPORTING EVENT. PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY AND REMEMBER, THE
MORE PEOPLE THAT CARPOOL, THE LESS TRAFFIC THERE WILL BE
FOR EVERYONE!
3
We strongly recommend PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, CARPOOLING, or
HUMAN POWERED MACHINES.
Parking is FREE at the Peoria Sports Complex. There will be a slew of
Peoria Police Officers helping with traffic flow and tons of parking attendants to
help you park once you have arrived in the parking lot.
There are several available parking lots at the Peoria Sports Complex. The
majority of the parking is located on the southwest side of the stadium and can
be accessed from N 83 Ave. A limited amount of parking is available on the
northeast side of the stadium and can be accessed from W Paradise Ln.
There are also plenty of other nearby parking spots, just make sure you obey
any no-parking signs.
COURSE MAP
This course is a healthy blend of asphalt and gravel/dirt roads so if you are planning on running
with a stroller make sure it is built for uneven terrain.

CHARITY PARTNER
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Phoenix provides a welcoming “home away
from home” for children and their families who travel to Phoenix to receive
treatment for serious, often life-threatening illnesses and injuries. While we cannot
make medicine taste better or take away painful treatments, we can help lessen
the burden by ensuring families have the stability they need to support their
children by providing an atmosphere of comfort, hope and courage.
Ronal McDonald House of Phoenix is truly “The House that Love Built,” thanks to the outstanding
commitment of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Through the generous support of our
community, the Ronald McDonald House of Phoenix has been able to serve more than 31,000
families since 1985.
Each Ronald McDonald House is independent and depends on support from the community,
special events, foundations, corporations and individuals to continue to provide services to those in
need. Through generous donations, The Ronald McDonald House of Phoenix will continue to be
able to help more families by providing low-cost, temporary housing that is near their child’s
hospital.
SPONSORS
Don’t forget to check out smart at packet pickup and at the race.
They’ll be giving away Color Bombs for you to bomb your friends, the
CMR-wrapped smart or unsuspecting strangers.
VOLUNTEERS
We’ve got a fantastic group of volunteers with one of the toughest, most
back-breaking jobs around—to cover you head-to-toe in color and make
you wonder if you’ve been downwind from a unicorn for 5 kilometers.
The Color Bomb Squad is TSA-approved and could hit you at any point
on the course, so keep your eye out. They’re probably easier to spot
TM than bowling ball candles or hair driers with scopes on an airport x-ray
scanner. Bomb Squaders, please check in by the Registration tent
in the Start/Finish area.
PHOTOS
We don’t want you to destroy your latest, greatest electronic devices during the
race so we’ll have photographers from Flo-Foto (www.flo-foto.com) present taking
pictures throughout the race as well as at the finish line. Photos will be available
5
a couple days after the race for pretty ‘durn’ affordable prices and are searchable by bib number or
last name.
If you want to go it alone, we recommend a good buddy trotting alongside you, a zip lock bag to
keep your camera safe and color free, and slow shutter speeds.
Hotel Partner
For those of you traveling from afar or for those of you who are just looking for a
crazy all-nighter with your friends and comrades on the eve of the race, we have
negotiated a rockin’ $79.95 rate with our good friends over at the Holiday Inn
Express. The hotel is located less than a mile away from the Peoria Sports
Complex, which will give you a head start on race day. Book now, as rooms are very limited. The
following is the contact information for the hotel:
Holiday Inn Express – Peoria, AZ
16771 North 84th Avenue
Peoria, AZ 85382
(623) 853-1313
COLOR ME RAD STORE
If you want to deck yourself out in more sweet Color Me Rad gear, buy more color to throw at your
friends, or maybe just buy some color to use as a thickener for your gravy, we’ll have it all for sale
in the Start/Finish area and at packet pickup.
OTHER RACE DAY FAQS
What is the “color” in Color Me Rad?
You’re probably asking yourself, Is this really color being thrown at me or are the rainbows I'm
seeing just a sign from God that the earth will never flood again?
Well we’re glad you asked. This isn’t just smoke and mirrors. This is non-toxic, non-rash-inducing,
Kroger branded, colored cornstarch. Subsidized by the government and processed in the good ol’
US of A, these blasts of starch will change your color, and your demeanor, but never your level of
wellness.
What should I wear?
White...all WHITE...but off-white, beige, or mother-of-pearl would be ok.
What happens at the finish line?
This is the royal rumble of color. Every 15–20 minutes everyone will grab their color packet and
pummel each other until you're black and blue (from corn starch – no real bruising will occur).
6
There will be music, food, and sponsors welcoming you across the finish line with open arms.
Hugs are free and just like any good AA meeting, spectators are welcome.
How do I protect my sensitive areas from color?
Using the same tactics you use to protect your “special parts” from the sun and wanton eyes.
Clothing, for starters, works wonders for keeping your skin as soft, supple, and as unseen as a
baby’s backside. Goggles, a RAD pair of sunglasses, shirts, shorts, shoes, cooking aprons,
hospital gowns, or radiation suits can be worn to protect you from the frequent blasts of color from
Color Me Rad, and any stray UV rays from holes in the ozone overhead.
How do I keep the color in my shirt?
Your best bet is to never wash it and let the stink permeate your house for decades. Your second
best bet is to spray it with vinegar, let it dry and then iron it.
How do I get Clean?
For sins, we’d recommend repentance and confession to your priest and/or favorite deity.
For color, we’d recommend soap, cold water, and perseverance...and a few other suggestions:
• If you’ve got light colored hair, it helps to use some leave-in conditioner, olive oil or coconut
oil beforehand—think Wendy Peffercorn—oiling and lotioning, lotioning and oiling.
• Goggles, your CMR sunglasses to cover your eyes will help.
• A bandanna never hurt anyone (unless it was the wrong color in the wrong neighborhood)
• After the race, get all the dry powder out of your hair, clothes, teeth, etc. before adding cold
water. We’ll even help you blow it out at the finish line.
• It might take a few washes to get it out of your hair, but heck, just lather, rinse, rinse, rinse,
rinse, rinse, rinse and repeat.
• You also might want to bring some towels or a change of clothes to make sure you don’t
color your whole car for the drive home.
What’s the difference between team runners and individuals?
Being alone ranks just below fear of death and public speaking on the phobia scale. There’s
nothing wrong with running alone, but throwing balls of color at your friends seems a little more fun
than hucking them at complete strangers.
Is this run timed? What do I win?
Just try to finish before the sun goes down. We don’t even own a watch. At the finish line you’ll be
rewarded with a sense of accomplishment and an endorphin induced high.
7
Is there an age limit?
Everyone, young, small, old, foreign or domestic are welcome to participate. Those under 18 do
need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian and here's the kicker...7 and under run for free! But
they don't get a shirt, bib or color packet.
Can I bring a pet?
Nope. No fluff here. Get it?
Is the race refundable?
The race is non-refundable, but it is transferable to another race or a significant or insignificant
other.
What if the weather is bad?
We will do everything in our puny human power to make sure the race happens even if it rains or
snows. But if for some reason we’ve angered the Gods and Zeus decides to let thunder and
lightning rain down from on high, we’ll put the race on hold or cancel and do our best to
reschedule. Runner safety is our highest priority, followed very closely by achieving world peace
through color bombing.
