Issue 40 (Rez 22), Feb. 2003 www.blessingisrael.com IloveIsrl@aol.com
In August, 2002, close to
100 new immigrants
arrived from India. Three
of their stories will be
featured in coming
newsletters. Visitors from
Canada and Norway
recently visited them and
were amazed by their love
of God and attachment to
the Land of Israel…….
Amazing considering they
had never been to Israel
and only recently
rediscovered their Judaic
roots. What a miracle!
Noam Haouip (30) and his wife Naomi (24) came to Shavei Shomron with a group of immigrants from
India on August 26 of this year. They come from Manipur which is one of 27 States within India. More
specifically, they lived in the Southern Hills District of Loibilkhundu. Noam and Noami are expecting their
first child any day now. When Noam was a child, his grandfather and his grandfathers’ brothers spoke
about Jewish customs frequently. During troubling times, he remembers them praying for safety and
protection to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
When Noam was 17, he started learning the five books of Moses and the prophets. He studied the Bible for
many years in his native tongue/dialect called “Thadou.” Many in his community and area are descendents
of one of the lost tribes of Israel. Their lives are rich with Jewish traditions and symbols. After
rediscovering their roots, they are the first of their family to make “Aliyah.” They expect both of their
parents and most if not all of their siblings to come. Noam has one sister and four brothers. Naomi has
seven brothers and two sisters. All of them want to come but are waiting to hear positive feedback from
Noam and Naomi. I asked Noam how he expects to make ends meet when the initial absorption process is
over in approx. one year. He said, “I just want to sit and learn the Bible. If I am obedient to God, He will
provide for my family.” Noam and Naomi have only been in Israel for three months but are almost sure
that they want to settle permanently in Shavei Shomron.
I spent the entire morning of Thursday, November 28 th with a group of approx. 40 new immigrants from
India. They were having a special party to celebrate the holiday of Chanukah. It was an amazing
experience to spend the morning with them and hear their stories. I am so blessed to raise funds for the
absorption program that cares for Noam, Naomi and the group of approx. 100 other Jews who arrived
from India in August of this year. My travel schedule is such that I have little time left but when I have the
opportunity to spend time with the new immigrants, I am always reenergized.
I am honored to be part of the ingathering. I am so humbled to give Bible believing Christians the
opportunity to partake in the absorption of Noam, Naomi and with God’s help, their about to be born
baby. May God bless them and grant them all their needs! Eliezer Braun
The above picture of Noam and Naomi was taken at a party celebrating the holiday of Chanukah. Noam and Naomi
are holding the Hebrew words, “Ba’yamim Ha’hem, Bazman Ha’zeh”…meaning “ in the days of old and in our
days.” This refers to the miracle of Chanukah that occurred several thousands years ago and to the miracles that
reoccur every day of our lives in these times as well. The most incredible miracle to the Haouip family in” these
times” is their miraculous restoration to the Land of Israel. Chanukah this year has special meaning, indeed!
Several people have asked why we do not print our newsletter in color. This would greatly improve the quality of
pictures, however the cost of printing in color is prohibitive and would more than double the cost of the newsletter.
If one of our readers would like to volunteer to print the newsletter in color and send it to our New Hampshire office
each month for distribution, please let me know by sending me an email to “ILoveIsrl@aol.com”. Insert the words,
“printing Shuva newsletter” in the subject area of the email. We would be deeply grateful if one of our readers
responds to this request. Thank you! Eliezer Braun
The security situation!
The security situation continues to deteriorate. Nearly 700 Israelis have been murdered
and 3,000 wounded since the beginning of the second Intifada more than two years ago.
13 of the 700 victims are from my community of Karnei Shomron. We recently lost the 20
year old son of one of the Rabbis in our community. He attended a Torah institution in the
area of Hebron and was preparing the Shabbat meal for the more than 300 students that
attend this particular study center. Terrorists entered the kitchen and shot him and three
others to death in cold blood. Before they died, one of the four managed to lock the door
to the dinning hall. This prevented the terrorists from entering the dinning hall where 300
young men were eating the Shabbat evening meal. Their heroism prevented an even larger
massacre from happening. The burial of our 20 year old neighbor in the cemetery in
Karnei Shomron took place one day before I left on a trip to the United States and Canada.
Traveling is an unquestionable necessity in my role as director of Shuva Israel.
My family is spread all over Israel and faces danger every day…especially the
areas that our children have chosen to live in. Every time I fly abroad, I leave with a heavy
heart…deeply concerned about the safety of my family, friends, community and the safety of
every citizen of the State of Israel.
During these most difficult times, the words of Ezekiel provide much comfort and
reassurance. Ezekiel 36 provides much comfort in particular.
“Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the
hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys…Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear
their shame. But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield
your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come. For behold, I am for you, and
I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown: And I will multiply men upon you, all the
House of Israel, and the cities shall be re inhabited, and the wastes shall be rebuilt…and I
will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will
settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and
ye shall know that I am the Lord your God.”
Arafat Takes on bin Laden…By Joseph Farah
Yasser Arafat is angry at Osama bin Laden. Arafat says he doesn't want the al-Qaida terrorist hiding behind "the Palestinian cause." He
denounced the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the United States, and explained how his struggle against Israel is different than the one being waged
by bin Laden against the West. It is all very persuasive if you didn't know a thing about Arafat's history. For years, Arafat has attended
meetings with terrorists from all over the world including bin Laden. He has used his Palestinian Authority subsidized by taxpayer dollars from
the United States, to whip up hatred among his people for not only Israelis, but for all Jews and for all Americans. (Just recall the celebrations in
the streets of Ramallah and Gaza as the World Trade Center collapsed.) To understand what I am telling you, you have to have some knowledge
of Marxist principles particularly the Hegelian dialectic. An idea or event generates its opposite, leading to a reconciliation of opposites, or a
synthesis. That is how progress is achieved through conflict, whether it's real conflict or phony conflict, manufactured by two or more
conspirators. When you see a schism develop between Arafat and some other terrorist group be it Hamas or Hizbollah or al-Qaida understand
what is at work. There is no schism. It's not real. They are play-acting. The fix is in. Arafat is playing a shrewd game - shrewd enough to have
fooled top diplomats in the United States and leaders in Israel for the last 10 years or more. Whenever he's on the ropes, he resurrects himself
and reinvents himself as a peacemaker and moderate in the Arab world. One of his best friends in the Arab world, Saddam Hussein also one of
bin Laden's steadiest supporters, is about to become pita toast. He doesn't want to join Hussein in exile or in hiding. He knows the U.S. is
capable of overrunning the entire region -He knows the map of the region is about to be redrawn. Where will that leave Arafat? Being supportive
of Iraq would leave him irrelevant. He made that mistake once. He won't make it a second time. Arafat came before bin Laden. There would be
no bin Laden without Arafat. Arafat is the godfather of Arab terrorism. He invented it. It was under his orders that the first commercial airliners
were hijacked. It was under his orders that U.S. diplomats and other civilians were murdered. It was under his orders that Olympic athletes
were killed. It was under his orders that hundreds of innocent Americans and thousands of innocent Israelis have perished. Arafat led the way,
set the example and Bin Laden benefited from his 40-year campaign of terrorism. Bin Laden just took it a step further. He executed it with more
precision, more daring, and higher death tolls. But he still learned
from Arafat and they both serve the same master.
750! That’s the number of new immigrants in the communities of Shavei Shomron, Einav and
Chinanit who have received assistance from your generous contributions over the past three years
to Shuva Israel. What an accomplishment! “Todah Raba”-Thank you!
