                                                                                                                                                          tional letter contest that earned a $10,000 prize for the library at her school,
                                                                                                                                                          Christiana Middle School.
                                                                                                                                                             During her recent eighth-grade year, Koerner wrote a letter to J. D. Salinger,
                                                                                                                                                          author of the classic “The Catcher in the Rye.”The letter was one of more than
                                                                                                                                                          55,000 entries in the contest, Letters about Literature, sponsored each year by
                                                                                                                                                          the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
                                                                                                                                                             Siori chose Salinger as the recipient of her letter because she connected with
                                                                                                                                                          “Catcher,” even though she wouldn’t go to the extremes portrayed in the story,
                                                                                                                                                          she says.
                                                                                                                                                             Siori received several gift certificates as a prize at the state and national level,
                                                                                                                                                          including a $500 gift card from Target, which was a sponsor. In addition, she had
                                                                                                                                                          to name a library to receive a $10,000 prize, and she chose the library at Chris-
                                                                                                                                                          tiana Middle.

                                                                                       A Murfreesboro resident wanted on suspicion of aggravated sexual battery was picked up in Louisiana
                                                                                     and transported back to Rutherford County on Wednesday, July 7.
                                                                                       German Tzoc-Garcia reportedly fled the area after discovering police were looking for him. Tzoc-Garcia
                                                                                     was wanted for having alleged sexual contact with a juvenile beginning when the victim was 14.
                                                                                       Tzoc-Garcia is not being released from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on bond. An im-
                                                                                     migration hold is in place on Tzoc-Garcia. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 20.

                                                                                       Rutherford County Sheriff candidate Jeff Griswold has withdrawn from the race.
                                                                                       Griswold, the chief of security with Imperial Security Services, announced his decision Wednesday
                                                                                     morning after fellow challenger Robert Arnold gained the support of the Hendon-McClanahan Lodge
                                                                                     No. 54 of the Fraternal Order of Police in Murfreesboro.
                                                                                       "I've been looking over the issues and Mr. Arnold and I have a lot of the same ideas and concerns," Gris-
                                                                                     wold said.
                                                                                       Arnold is running against long-time Rutherford County Sheriff Truman Jones.
