                              CHAUFFEUR/COURIER




Position Objective:
The incumbent provides            efficient   Chauffeur/Courier   services,   and   safe
transportation support services to the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
He/She transports documents, equipment and people to various locations on behalf
of the Authority; engages in simple office processes and procedures; and routinely
operates the office machines.


The Chauffeur/Courier delivers and collects all correspondence and other
documents to and from other organisations, agencies and associations, and
performs simple clerical tasks.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:
   Collects, sorts and distributes incoming mail, memoranda, packages, records
    and other materials in accordance with fixed schedules; as well as sorts and
    stamps out-going mail and makes appropriate entries in the mail register.
   Collects mail and packages from the Post Office, makes deliveries and enters
    letters and parcels in dispatch book.
   Provides safe and timely transportation services as required by the Authority.
   Maintains vehicle mileage log, maintenance records, fuel purchase records, and
    vehicle condition reports.
   Checks the safety of the Authority’s vehicle(s) to ensure road worthiness on a
    daily basis; and ensures the safekeeping of vehicle accessories – jack, first aid
    kit, etc.
   Advises the Authority and makes arrangements for scheduled tune-up and
    maintenance servicing of all vehicles to ensure that they are kept in excellent
    working order.
   Advises the Authority in advance of annul insurance payments.
   Ensures that the interior and exterior of the vehicle(s) are kept clean at all times,
    and the tank is always more than half full.
   Assists in the heavy lifting and moving of furniture, equipment, etc., and
    arranging rooms for conferences and meetings.
   Packs books and articles, affixes labels on envelopes and answers office inter-
    communication and telephone as required.
   Assists with administrative duties such as photocopying, printing and binding
    documents, and faxing, etc.
   Distributes office and other supplies to the various Units and locations of the
    Authority
   Performs related duties as may be required.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
   Displays a courteous and helpful manner, with a high level of customer service
    orientation.
   Demonstrates good communications skills, both verbal and written.
   Ability to understand simple, oral and written communications.
   Ability to perform simple clerical tasks.
   Ability to drive defensively.
   Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other
    employees and the public.

   Physical strength necessary for making Courier rounds, and lifting and moving
    heavy items.
   Ability to use a personal computer.

Minimum Training and Experience:
   Primary School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent.
   A Certificate from a recognised Secondary School advising of attendance for a
    minimum of five (5) years would be considered an asset.
   A valid driver’s permit for at least five (5) years, with a safe driving record.
   A motorcycle license will be an asset.
   A defensive/safe driving certificate would also be considered an asset.
   1-2 years’ experience in a related position.
   Any other equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.


Requirement:
   All shortlisted applicants must have a Certificate of Good Character.
