K half day school announcement

							With the new calendar law in effect, school districts across the state had to make adjustments to their
2012-2013 school calendars. One major change for Trussville City Schools is that for the first time, we
will begin on Monday, giving students a full first week of school. For most students, teachers, and
parents, this change will not be significant; however, for our youngest students who will be attending
“big” school for the first time, a full week makes for a big challenge. To help ease the transition,
kindergarteners will attend for half days the week of August 20th only. Kindergarten students will be
dismissed at 12:30 PM. Busses will not run for this dismissal so parents should begin now making
arrangements for their students to be picked up from school. All daycares with afternoon pick-up at our
school have agreed to an early run for kindergarten students at 12:30 PM, and then to return for the
first and second graders as normal at 3:00 PM. We appreciate the cooperation of our after-school care
partners!
