                 Definition
• ORTHOSIS:-This is a Device applied to the
body to assist function, immobilise, prevent
or correct deformity, protect against injury,
promote healing and to keep the body in
  maximum anatomical position.
• When appropriately prescribed, these
orthoses can decrease pain and increase
stability in an unstable joint, along with
  preventing potential progression or
development of a deformity. Improved quality
of life often results from the application of
  the principles of orthotics.
        Functions of Orthosis
• Supportive: Stabilization of joint/joints with
                  paralysed musculature

• Preventive: Prevention of the deformity in
              childhood disabilities.

• Corrective: Congenital deformity of feet, hands
              CDH & Scoliosis etc
