FIRST STEP: CREATING A PLANNING SHEET The grading scale is as follows: 6= 100% 5= 90% 4=70% 3=50% 2=30% 1=10% U= Un-scorable 0% Your essay should have a general format as follow: Planning Sheet Introduction Paragraph w/ Thesis Statement and Creative Hook 3 Body Paragraphs (at least) which all start with transitions and include details and support (FRIES and SCOPE) Conclusion which restates your thesis and wraps up your essay A thesis statement puts your 3 supporting points into one sentence. The thesis statement is ALWAYS the last sentence in the introduction!!!!!!! Your thesis statement should prepare your reader for what will be included in your essay. All timed writing test will be 45 minutes. You should take the first 5 minutes to plan… Then next 35 minutes to write your essay….
