Summary of review and consultation process

Consultation with representatives from the Textile Industry identified the need for a unit
standard to cover knowledge of workplace practice in the textile industry. It was therefore
decided to widen the scope of the existing unit standard, 17914, to cover the textile
industry. As these unit standards now cover both industry sectors, it was necessary to
place these in a more generic Subfield and domain. It was decided to register the units in
the Manufacturing Skills Subfield and create a new domain named apparel and textile
manufacturing – workplace skills.

The review presented an opportunity to update legislative changes. Both unit standards
were also given new titles.

Main changes resulting from the review

The review process resulted in the following changes to the unit standards.

 Minor changes were made to the content of unit standard 17914 to widen the scope
      to include the textile industry.
 Changes were made to legislation.
 Titles of both unit standards were amended.

Impact on Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP)
AMAP 0030 has been updated to reflect the changes made to the standards.
