                             “Family Focus”
Cassandra first became involved with the Family Resource Center for Eau Claire
when her son, Wyatt, was five months old and living in family foster care. Cassan-
dra worked hard over the next year, meeting twice a month with a Parent Educator
in the PAT Program to help build her parenting skills, learn about safety, nutrition,
routines, development focused activities, and to enhance her confidence in her par-
enting abilities. Through the support and guidance of her family, friends, and the
Family Resource Center, Wyatt, now eighteen months old, and Cassandra live on
their own with no child protection involvement. Cassandra feels that the Family Resource Center has helped
her to be a better parent and to gain an understanding of Wyatt’s development. She enjoys the outgoing staff
and feels they are easy to get along with. Cassandra believes that working with the Parent Educators has
helped her to be a more involved parent to her son, to feel more relaxed and comfortable about her parenting
skills, and to be less nervous about parenting. Cassandra’s newfound knowledge about her child’s develop-
ment has assisted in his ability to meet his developmental milestones and to ensure that Wyatt will continue to
be the happy, healthy boy he is.

“Heading into the first annual Where in Eau Claire event, our team didn’t
know what to expect, but it became evident early on that the fun team spirit
and competitive nature of the hunt made for quite an exhilarating and wild
ride (sometimes literally!). By the end, everyone on our team was eager to
participate again – and to recruit other like-minded scavengers to join us!"

Monika Waloway, Team Zumba Vida Neon
