Dear Readers,
This issue of our magazine helps you to
become better acquainted with our small,
but appealing neighbour, Luxembourg. I
had the opportunity of experiencing the
economic and cultural attractions of the
Grand Duchy myself a few weeks ago, on
the occasion of the annual meeting of our
25 country managers. Together with the
Prime Minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, we
celebrated the successful year of 2008. The 3
Dussmann Group concluded the business
year with an increase in sales of 75 million Contents
Euros to 1,406 million Euros. Our German
operations in all company divisions grew
to achieve an additional 3 percent, in total
879 million Euros. Sales outside Germany
last year reached 527 million Euros, re-
flecting growth of 10.3 percent. The num-
ber of employees worldwide also grew,
to 52,706 people. I am happy to welcome
Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann, the
wife of our company founder, »on board«
as the new Chairperson of the Supervisory
Board.
Wishing you a happy summertime,
Yours truly,
THOMAS GREINER

A New Spirit
A Tour across the Kirchberg Plateau
in the City of Luxembourg
The seat of the European Union’s Court of Justice, one of
the richest countries in Europe, a job machine. These are
some of the phrases which come to mind on the subject
of Luxembourg. If you want proof of these assumptions or
see where they originated, the best place to look is the
Kirchberg Plateau. Since the 1960s, buildings have shot out
of the ground; the European Union buildings, the Exhibi-
tion & Congress Center, banks and administrative com-
plexes are in stark contrast to ancient Luxembourg. The
old town lies at the foot of the Plateau where the suburbs
Grund, Clausen and Pfaffenthal nestle in the valley of the
rivers Pétrusse and Alzette, nurturing the village character
of the Grand Duchy’s capital city. The »red« and »black«
bridges form the connection between these two worlds.
Over the past few years, there have been attempts to re-
lease Kirchberg from its bureaucratic rigidity, for example
through groundbreaking architecture, art and culture.

Greetings
from …
I have been cooking food at my restaurant
»Lea Linster Cuisinière« since 1982. It is lo-
cated ten kilometers from Luxembourg in an
unassuming village called Frisange. I am
very proud of my Michelin star. I think
that my cuisine is both elegant and down-to-
earth. In 1989, I won the cooking competi-
tion organized by my teacher, Bocuse, as the
first and, until then, only woman and was
awarded the »Bocuse d'Or«. I have named
the seven-course menu at 95 Euros per per-
son, which includes the saddle of lamb in a
potato crust and rosemary sauce for which I
am world famous, after this prize. If you would
like to take one of the 60 seats –20 of
them on the terrace – please make a reser-
vation well in advance. I look forward to
your visit!
Yours,

Our core services are nursing and care of
