                        SAE & AXO Chili Cookoff Nov 15
                        Come out to SAE/AXO Chili-Cookoff on Thursday, November 15th to help
                        support The Compass Center for Women and Families! Enjoy chili from groups
                        from across campus and Chapel Hill as we raise money for this worthy cause!
                        Starts at 5: 30 pm at the SAE House in the Court, tickets are $5 each. Details here

                    The chapter raised money for the Carolina Living and Learning Center of Pittsboro
                    ( on Thursday, Oct 25. The event was held
                    at HE’s NOT HERE, 112 ½ West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.

                    The University of North Carolina TEACCH Autism Program creates and cultivates the
                    development of exemplary community-based services, training programs, and
                    research to enhance the quality of life for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
                    and their families.

                          William J “Billy” Armfield, IV, ’56, is president of Spotswood Capital LLC in
                          Greensboro. He was a graduate of Woodberry Forest, and received his BS in
                          Business Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and
                          MBA at Harvard Business School. Married to Jane Hall Armfield, he has eight
                          children and resides in Richmond. Billy was President of Macfield, Inc., from
                          1970-1991, which he and Dalton L. McMichael founded. Macfield, Inc. merged
                          with Unifi, Inc. in 1991, and then he was Vice Chairman of Unifi, Inc. until 1995.
                          Billy became a director of the Company again in 2001, and is a member of the
                          Audit Committee, Corporate Governance, Nominating Committee and
                          Compensation Committee. Billy served on the Board of Trustees at the
University of North Carolina from 1992-2000. He was also a former Member of the Board of Trustees at
Woodberry Forest School and is a former President of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute.

                    Jon Barrett ’72 is the Partner in Charge for Mayer Brown, a law firm in Charlotte.
                   Jon’s firm is a general corporate and business practice. He advises his clients on the
                   full range of general corporate matters, with additional focus on mergers and
                   acquisitions. He counsels new and continuing businesses, joint ventures, growth and
                   entrepreneurial ventures, and venture capital and private equity investors. In addition
                   to his corporate work, Jon practices sports law. He represents a major intercollegiate
                   athletic conference and handles all of their contract negotiations, including the
                   creation of their own sports television network and all of their telecast rights
agreements. He also advises clients in the creation of regional sports networks. Jon attended UNC Law
school with honors in 1978 and graduated from the University of North Carolina, Phi Beta Kappa. Reach

                     John Pappas ’15 is from Greensboro and attended Northwest Guilford High
                     School. He is an intern at Volvo Financial Services. John is pursuing a Bachelor of
                     Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Finance. He is also an assistant airport
                     manager at Horace Williams in Chapel Hill where he oversees air traffic control
                     and communication, plane maintenance, transactions, and maintaining an
                     organized and clean working environment. John is in the Kenan-Flagler Business
                     School Assured Admissions Program, UNC Honors College, Kenan-Flagler Global
                     Immersion Electives (India), and the UNC Investment Society. He received the
James K. McLean Scholarship Fund Recipient from the Kenan-Flagler Business School, a UNC Merit
Scholarship based on academic achievement and research experience, and he is a National AP Scholar.
