The Royal-tea Club
Tea Time in Asheville, NC
June 1-4, 2012
Day 1 – Friday, June 1:
We depart for beautiful Asheville enjoying the scenery as we
travel south through the Shenandoah Valley to the Blue Ridge
Parkway surrounded by the Great Smokey Mountains.
En route we will make a stop at the Sunflower Cottage,
Middletown, VA for a Full High Tea which will include soup,
finger sandwiches, canapés, salad, pastries, scones, lavender
cookies, Queen of Sheba brownies and of course English tea pots
of delicious varieties of tea.
We will make a dinner stop at Ryan’s before arriving at our
hotel for the night.
We check in to the Doubletree Hotel just one block from the
entrance of the famous Biltmore Estate and within walking
distance of the Biltmore Village.
Day 2 – Saturday, June 2:
We begin our day with breakfast at the hotel then head out with
our guide for a sightseeing tour of Asheville. We make a stop at
the Farmer’s Market, with a beautiful panoramic view of the
mountains, and the Biltmore Estate. The market was first opened
in 1977, and is now open all year round. Enjoy the atmosphere
and character of the mountains.
This afternoon we enjoy an informative tour of one of Asheville’s
many historic houses and then enjoy a delightful afternoon tea,
sandwiches and desserts at Chelsea’s Village Tea Room.
This evening dinner will be on your own. Enjoy your evening
relaxing at the hotel or stroll through Biltmore Village.
Day 3 – Sunday, June 3:
We begin the day with breakfast at our hotel and then depart for
the Biltmore Estate. On this self-guided tour explore all that
Biltmore has to offer. Explore the year-round wonders of 250-
room Biltmore House filled with treasures. Stroll through the
historic gardens that are magnificent in every season.
This afternoon we will enjoy tea and refreshments at the
Deerpark Restaurant or The Inn at Biltmore. Everyone will
receive a souvenir cup and saucer as a reminder of their visit to
the fabulous Biltmore Estate. Before leaving the grounds we visit
the Biltmore Winery and Antler Village. Discover their new
village that connects the estate's present and past, providing a
relaxing place for dining, shopping, historical exhibits, and new
ways to experience Biltmore's hospitality.
Dinner this evening will be at the Red Rocker Inn. Located on
one acre of carefully landscaped grounds in the charming
mountain town of Black Mountain NC, the Red Rocker Inn is
perfectly situated just off the beautiful NC Blue Ridge Parkway.
Enjoy gracious Southern dining in a setting that will remind you
of those wonderful days spent at Grandma's; where the food is the
best you've ever tasted and the peaceful, charming surroundings
invite warm conversation with family and friends. Additionally,
the Atlanta Journal recently described dinner at the Red Rocker
as "truly a feast!"
Day 4 – Monday, June 4:
After breakfast at the hotel and we bid farewell to the southern
hospitality of Asheville and make our way toward home.
We again make a stop at a lovely tea room, this time in Staunton,
VA at Hathaway Inn. Enjoy a little piece of England in this
authentic thatched cottage built on old English principles and the
only one in Staunton and surrounding area.
We make our way toward home after a delightful weekend of
“beau-tea-full” sights and fun with friends!
