Advisory Committee Meeting

Welcome and Introduction Attendees introduced theirself. Participants: Lee Everett, Ann Cowels, Cathy Beggs, Cindy
Harrison, Esther Concepcion, Mary Metz, Carol Brockmeier, Carol Beck, Lynn Dellaporta, Rose
Silver, Charlotte Rolle, Lisa Shivers, Kathy Ricossa, Mathew Garryson, Darla Cooley, Marsha
Objectives/Goals of Advisory Develop a partnership where we can discuss the needs of our facilities and the community
Committee and how our programs can meet those needs.
Receive fit back from facilities on how our programs and students are doing.
Receive ideas from Advisory Committee members to improve our curriculum.
Health Occupations Programs Explanation of MC Programs and their set up per semester.
Explanation about the overview of statewide advisory committee and Perkins Act documents.
Those documents were included on the invitation letter.
Discussion of units per class.
LVN to RN Step Up Program Distribution and explanation of the following documents: LVN to RN Step Up Program
requirements, course sequences, and course descriptions. It was a discussion about simulation being
the newest tool to teach. It will be integrated in the curriculum for the Health Occupations
Program Director still not hired. The position is being posted.
The LVN to RN office is set up and the Lab is being developed.
The program will enrolled between 20 to 24 students. At this moment, we have a list of 134
Community Partners Andrew Hill HS, Kaiser Santa Teresa, HCR Manor Care, Sub-Acute Saratoga, and Cedar Crest
Nursing and Rehab.
Simulation Lab Demonstration A demonstration of a Patient Simulator was done. This new upgraded simulator is connected to a
computer and a webcam that can record students while they are practicing and play back later to
check if students performed the right steps. In the computer, a programmable scenario-based can
be storage for future use or it can be waiting for instructor control.
Future Agenda Items/ Next There will be 2 Advisory Committee Meetings a year
Meeting Date Next meeting will be on January 2008
