About the Program
Lakeland College's Peer Tutor Program is a FREE service offered to full-time students who pay
comprehensive fees. You can learn how to request a tutor or how to become a tutor by
selecting the appropriate menu items. You can also select the "Contact Us" menu item to ask
a question or just drop by The Learning Centre during our office hours.
The Peer Tutor Program provides opportunities for College students to work together on
course material outside a formal classroom setting.
The purposes of the Peer Tutor Program are:
1. To bring fellow students together to study and succeed in their academic programs.
2. To provide a positive learning experience for individuals in both roles - as tutor and
student.
3. To encourage students to develop useful study habits and effective strategies for
learning.
4. To promote the development of responsibility and effective time management skills.
5. To assist the improvement of communication skills and the ability to work effectively
with people.
6. To promote a feeling of accomplishment and to increase self-confidence and
motivation.
