SUBJECT: Doctoral Student Annual Reviews
It is time for our doctoral student annual reviews. The purpose of the review is twofold: to assist
doctoral students as they progress through their doctoral education and to give the doctoral
faculty a sense of the students’ overall progress. The reviews will consist of: evaluations from
faculty with whom you took classes during the fall and spring semesters, those supervising you
on research and/or grant projects or as a RA/TA during the academic year, and faculty who have
any special knowledge of your overall progress. Additionally, student evaluations for doctoral
teaching fellows will be included as part of the review. Attached you will find a Self-Assessment
form and your current vita. Please complete this form and update your vita if necessary. If you
do not have a vita, please create one. You may find a sample vita on the website at
http://www.cjcenter.org/resources/. Please return the completed form along with your vita to
Karen Eads no later than Friday, May 14, 2010.
The Annual Review schedule will commence on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. The schedule detailing
time slots will be e-mailed to you.
Doctoral Teaching Fellows will need to sign up for one of the slots beginning June 28th. This
will allow for their student evaluations to be recorded from the Spring semester. For those of
you who will be leaving the state for the summer, I would encourage you to sign-up for your
review during the first week.
The sign-up sheet will be available beginning Friday, April 30, so please stop by Karen Eads’
office (A208) to sign-up for your one (1) hour block of time or you may call her at
4-4735 or e-mail her beginning that day.
I look forward to meeting with each of you in the coming weeks. Should you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 4-1349.
