                                              Work Experience

6th November 06 – 13th February 08
London Scottish Bank plc
I have just been made redundant from London Scottish Finance, a subsidiary of London Scottish Bank plc.
I worked there as a Homeowner Loans Completion Officer. My position involved interacting with Brokers to
take their packaged cases to the completion stage. Each case I assessed would then become part of my
client bank in which it would stay until the case was ready to complete. When I received a new packaged
case, my job was to underwrite the application to our criteria. The underwriting procedure involved
checking the clients’ credit history, working out income test and loan to value. All the documents had to be
compliant and it was vital that any Settlement Figures and Consents had enough time left to complete. If I
had any queries or required any new documents etc, the Broker would outsource the outstanding and
then I would carry out security calls with the customers, input their application onto our system and sign
the case off to be funded. I had a mandate of £30,000.
It was important that I had an accurate eye for detail as I was working with legally binding documents.
When I was not underwriting, I was carrying out administrative tasks such as contacting mortgage
companies for discharge documents, sending discharge documents to Land Registry / or our Irish /
Scottish Solicitors, notifying mortgage companies of our charge, as well as background general
photocopying, faxing, and filing away.

Prior to October 2007, I worked in the Client Services Department within the same subsidiary. My duties
were fairly similar; however it was a lot more customer focused. I was packaging the cases from start to
near finish, this involved carrying out the initial telephone applications and quoting the customers. I would
carry out credit searches, land registry searches and online house valuations. If the customers still met
our criteria I would go on to writing out credit agreements/ legal charges and sending all the documents
out to the customers to be completed. I would also have the responsibility of chasing outstanding
documents, helping the customers out with any queries, and also keeping them up to date with their
progress. I also checked some of our Broker’s packaged cases before they were passed over to the
Completions Department for final checks and payout.
I also carried out some of the unsecured Administration tasks in this department, for example I would
calculate Settlement Figures, answer customers’ queries on their accounts, refer in necessary, and I also
did some of the underwriting for car finance, and loan applications for our one unsecured broker.

April 2006 – November 2006
Halifax plc
I worked in my local Halifax Branch full time as a cashier. My role involved interacting with the customers,
carrying out general cashiering, setting up standing orders and direct debits, and generating leads for our
products. I was also given the opportunity to lead one of our product campaigns; Shelia’s Wheels Car
Insurance. It was a two month campaign and I was responsible for briefing the team about the products,
updating them with our results, and encouraging them to generate leads with customers.
This was my first experience in the financial environment and I left to pursue a career. I also started a part
time University course so that I could carry on with my education without sacrificing the opportunity to
develop a career.

Prior to April 2006
When I finished college in 2005, I started working full time for Next Warehouse in order to save a little for
my full time University course I was starting in September; I was also working weekends at my local Vue
Cinema. When I started University, I changed my hours to part time at Next, until around Christmas time in
which I decided the Fashion course I had chosen was not for me. I left University and went back full time
at Next until I had decided what I wanted to do career wise. I left Next Warehouse in April 2006 to work at
Halifax plc, and carried on working part time at the cinema as well.
