									Reassessment Coursework – Summer 2012
This document describes the arrangements for students who need to take
reassessment over the summer period. Any coursework or other item submitted to
the Undergraduate or Postgraduate Office must be handed in no later than 5pm on
Fri 27th July.

Work submitted later than the 27th will only be marked if a) it is handed in within 10
working days of the deadline and b) a claim is accepted through the University’s
mitigating circumstances procedure. There is no late coursework period available for
students without agreed mitigating circumstances.

Students should be aware that they are expected to submit all items of assessed
work and may be withdrawn/discontinued from their programme if this is not the case.

Module Code : FS3009C Module Title:                    Bank Lending
NOTE:
Students who have not participated in the Group Presentation are required to
attempt Element 1 of the CWK below.

Students who have not participated in the Group Presentation, and are also
required to be assessed/reassessed in CWK, are required to attempt both Element
1 and Element 2 of the CWK below.

Students who have participated in the Group Presentation, and are required to
be assessed/reassessed in CWK only may submit / rework and submit their
individual essays as outlined in Section 26 of the Module Handbook for 2012
available on WebLearn.

ELEMENT 1:
Original assessment type: CWK / PRES - 10 minute Group Presentation

Reassessment type:           CWK: Preliminary individual report – 1000 words

Weighting:                   15 %

Submission arrangements and deadlines:
                           All coursework reassessments must be submitted to the
                          Undergraduate or Postgraduate Office no later than 5pm on
                          Friday 27th July. (If any alternative method of submsssion
                          has been formally agreed, this must be clearly specified
                          here. The same deadline must apply as for submission to
                          UG/PG Offices.)
Coursework task:
Critically examine the reasons why lenders might be faced with loan losses. Illustrate
your answer with examples from the banking industry.

Rubric (further information about task):
The answers should be in the form of an essay and the length (not inclusive of
appendices) should be about 1000 words. The number of words should be clearly
indicated in the title page of the essay. References should be furnished using the
Harvard referencing system.
The assessment criteria are summarised and indicated below along with the
maximum mark allocated in respect of each criterion:

Reassessment type:          CWK:– Individual Essay of 2000 words

INDIVIDUAL ESSAY: THIS IS THE SAME QUESTION RELATING TO THE
‘LENDING PROBLEM SCENARIO’ EXPERIENCED BY STANDARD CHARTERED
BANK AS OUTLINED IN SECTION 26 OF THE MODULE HANDBOOK FOR 2012.
Submit an essay setting out the process of addressing the problem, including the
findings from your preliminary report above, and the recommended solution/s.
