FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VAUXHALL MOTORS ADAM EXHIBITED AT LONDON FASHION WEEK
Fred Butler, Louise Gray and James Small reveal their personalised ADAM in Covent
Garden
Fred Butler, Louise Gray and James Small display their very own ADAM designs outside the
home of Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Freemasons’ Hall, Covent Garden from Friday 14th to
Tuesday 18th September 2012.
The cars are exhibited ahead of the Vauxhall ADAM’s global debut at the Paris Motor Show
towards the end of the month, where its price will be announced and official order books
opened to customers. ADAM launches in the UK for early 2013.
The designers have collaborated with Vauxhall Motors on ‘ADAM Journey’s’ which sees
them filmed on their creative journey to reflect and compliment the different launch
personalities, ADAM JAM (unconventional / fashionable), ADAM GLAM (elegant /
sophisticated) and ADAM SLAM (energetic and sporty).
A conceptual film entitled ‘ADAM Journeys’ showcases Fred, Louise and James’ designs, and
an intimate ‘Making Of’ film offers an insight into the process. Each designer has a mentor,
James Small is joined by Kim Jones, Men’s Style Director at Louis Vuitton, Fred Butler is
joined by Diane Pernet, Founder of a Shaded View of Fashion Film Festival and blogger, and
Louise Gray is joined by Richard Sloan, stylist and fashion consultant who also styles her
shows.
ADAM&LOUISE – ‘ADAM JAM’ suited Louise Gray’s bold and quirky style and its personality
very much informed the selection of raw-cut materials Louise has chosen to create curtains
of ragging over the front window screen and rear window. Foil-printed silk crepe, glitter-
print netting and rubber-printed holographic sequins, jostle alongside inky blue chiffon,
featuring large oversized sequins, navy PVC, yellow leather and vibrant blood orange spot-
printed cotton, in a beautiful array of textiles, creating a Carnival and celebratory feel,
reinforced by giant heart shaped red Latex balloons strapped to the roof.
ADAM&JAMES – ‘ADAM GLAM’ depicts a sleek and luxurious personality, and fits with
James Small’s elegant menswear and love of intricate print. He has wrapped the car in a
black and pink graphic that fuses tiger camouflage with an overlaying paisley pattern. He
has cleverly used a complimentary colour to highlight ADAM’s signature floating roof, by
keeping it solid and glossy. He felt a camouflage would work well with the contours of the
ADAM.
ADAM&FRED – ‘ADAM SLAM’ perfectly epitomises Fred Butler’s daring character with its
street-led personality. She has incorporated a colour palette of primary colours, lilac and
mustard into the Dibond coloured-aluminium geometric sculpture she has created in
modular sections to adorn the front and rear of her ADAM. She describes her organically
growing form as ‘Car Couture’
Niels Loeb, Chief Designer, Exterior, Vauxhall Motors says, "Working alongside Louise, James
and Fred has seen automotive and fashion design merge. As designers we all create ideas
but are also challenged by different rules and lead times. The ADAM Journeys project has
provided an insight as to how we can work alongside such talent. We're proud to present
ADAM Journeys."
The ADAM is Vauxhall Motors new chic, small, urban car. The Vauxhall ADAM offers
unlimited personalisation through the choice of exterior and interior colours, roof colours,
decors and various headliners including an LED lit, 'starlight' roof trim. The Vauxhall ADAM
will be available in three different trims.
Visitors to the Vauxhall stand at the Paris Motor Show (Hall 5.2 stand 501) will find an
impressive display of ADAM’s representing just some of the many combinations available.
Interactive stations will allow visitors to create their very own ADAM and explore the
virtually endless customisation possibilities at the touch of a button.

ADAM Journey’s will be screened at Vauxhall Fashion Scout on 18th September 2012.

NOTES TO EDITORS
About Vauxhall Motors
Vauxhall Motors is dedicated to supporting style and design in the UK, and does so through
a number of initiatives including Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair and the
Vauxhall Ampera season at The Filling Station, Kings Cross. Vauxhall Motors has been
manufacturing motor vehicles in the UK continuously since 1903. Vauxhall’s range spans all
mainstream sectors of the vehicle market with best-selling model names such as Corsa,
Astra, Meriva, Zafira and Insignia regularly topping the sales charts.
About Vauxhall ADAM
Measuring almost 3.70 metres in length, Vauxhall’s new, chic and agile car is perfect for
urban environments. Unlike other rivals, ADAM bucks the trend of retro-based design with a
modern and bold look. Its striking and unique “floating” roof which is visually disconnected
from the body allows a perfect execution of a two-tone colour combination. Inside the
cabin, the Vauxhall ADAM offers seating for four people who will benefit from a premium-
inspired atmosphere and a high degree of roominess unusual for a small car.
About Vauxhall Fashion Scout
September 2012 will feature an exciting selection of Off & On Schedule designers with
Vauxhall Fashion Scout hosting a range of catwalk shows, salon shows, presentations and
exhibition space. The event takes place from 14th – 18th September in Vauxhall Fashion
Scout’s permanent location – Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden, a short walk from
Somerset House, the home of London Fashion Week.
Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Paris Showroom will run from 27th September – 2nd October
2012.

challenge the way people traditionally look at jewellery. Her pioneering work includes: head
pieces, wrist, neck and waist adornments. She enjoys regular private commissions for such
artists as: Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga (she designed the telephone from her infamous music
video), T.E.E.D, Beth Ditto, and Patrick Wolf

on brightly hued, boldly textured garments whose shapes are simple and where movement
and embellishment take centre stage, creating an eye-catching wearable wardrobe for the
modern woman. She has collaborated with Topshop on a fashion and beauty range, as well
