                 The Tianjin Workshop speakers presented three different perspectives
                 on the hot topic of human resources in China.

                 First, Mr. Martius provided the theoretical background. He presented
                 the Boyden Report, which deals with “commonly held myths on the HR
                 issue in China,” by explaining “The ‘war for talent’ is a Western phe-
                 nomenon, with no such war existing in China.” Mr. Martius explained
                 that according to the respondents, there was just as much of a war for
                 talent in China as in any other country. Opportunities and salaries are
                 rising fast in China, and labor costs are going up. Competition for tal-
                 ent in China changes in relation to the competitiveness of the sector

                 lent platform for discussion by sharing his experience with the talent
                 pool in Tianjin. The audience was curious to find out how Würth is
                 dealing with the time-consuming selection of applicants. Even more
                 than technical or professional qualifications, soft skills and character
                 are the most important decision criteria for Mr. Zhong.

                 Finally, Ms. Wang Wei, the China representative of Career Service China
                 (CSC), described the job market in the country, particularly in regional
                 centers outside of BJ, SH and GZ, and the potential for returning
                 young Chinese professionals. Often, highly qualified Chinese who have
                 studied in Germany and are coming back to China to seek employment
                 do not find the type of position they are looking for in the city of
                 their choice. CSC’s services help match these returnees with jobs that
                 are suited to their skills and location requirements.
