Department of Consumer Protection Alerts Consumers to
“Sky Champion” Wireless Indoor Toy Helicopters Recall, Due to
Fire/Burn Hazard
HARTFORD, May 30 – Product Safety Inspectors from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection are
conducting recall effectiveness checks at Walgreens Stores in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission’s voluntary recall of “Sky Champion” Wireless Indoor Helicopters, due to a fire/burn hazard. This
product was manufactured in China and imported by TWIE, also known as Tradewinds International Enterprises, of
San Francisco, California.
The Sky Champion Wireless Indoor Helicopters were sold nationwide exclusively at Walgreens Stores from June 2007
through November 2007, for approximately $20.00. The helicopter is made of plastic and foam and comes with a
transmitter. Printed on the tail of the Helicopter is “BH26047”. The battery contained inside the helicopter can catch
fire, posing a fire/burn hazard.
Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. strongly recommends that parents check their children’s toys for
this product and if found, immediately remove. There have been several reports of this toy catching fire, although no
injuries or property damage has been reported. Consumers should contact TWIE for a full refund. Walgreens will not
provide refunds or accept returns. For additional information, please call TWIE toll free at (888) 583-4908 anytime.
