Current Position     July 2010 – July 2012
                     Area / Operations Manager – Golden Acres

                     I have recently been made redundant from this position. My role was to oversee
                     5 retail sites and the buying team, as well as marketing and EPOS departments.
                     I was responsible for day to day running of the sites with annual turnover of
                     £12M; ensuring high operational standards are maintained to drives sales,
                     profitability and customer service was achieved through the 120+ colleagues.
                     Through management of the buying team to develop product ranges, control
                     stockholding and improve promotional activity, whilst maintaining margins.
                     With EPOS to improve and develop frameworks to record and progress the
                     departments output.

                        Improved sales to record levels for the company by challenging and raising standards.
                         Sales 5.1% growth over previous year.
                        Targeted making profitable sales by improved promotional activity and challenging
                         suppliers to make margin levels. Achieved an improved percentage of 42.1 over the
                         previous years 41.3%
                        Reduced stock holding through implementing controls to improve cash flow and margin
                         for the business.
                        Implemented Management, Leadership and Development programme for
                         managers, assistant managers and buyers. Identified training needs of the
                         business, working with external providers to provide a programme to coach and
                         develop the management teams
                        Implemented appraisal structure into the business for management teams and
                         annual review process for colleagues.
                        Mystery shopper improvement through training and development. The results
                         through the HTA programme for the company went from 78.25% to 85.75% 2011
                        Introduction of staff rota systems to bring centres into line with budget. All centres
                         achieved CTS salary budgets, saving of £80K over previous year.
                        Develop marketing with improved promotional activity and strategies to improve
                         promotional participation and customer perception.
                        Managed structural change, effectively implementing a sales culture, introduced
                         effective sales tools such as management sales number and daily sales huddles
                        Successful expansion of the business to 5 sites, successful integration of the
                         additional site in to the company.
                        To develop disciplines and measures for EPOS data to drive the business.
                        Educated Managers on P&L control, driving profitability at workshops and monthly
                         management reviews.
                        Coached Managers on managing through actions, coaching, enabling and feedback
                         and developed a working succession plan for the business

Position             February 2010 – July 2010
                     Store Manager - Homesense (part of TJX Europe)

                     I was recruited to manage the opening of the new Chichester store, full
                     recruitment of the management team and the associates. To implement high
                     standards and cultivate team values to the new store, setting up new
                     system and practises.

 Main Achievements   Successfully completed company training programme, to become manager
                     of Chichester, £5m unit. Recruited management team and associates.
                     Assisted the store manager of Reading in the opening of new store, in preparation of
                     Chichester’s opening.
Position              March 2009 - February 2010
                      Home and Leisure Manager – Asda Walmart

                      Recruited to oversee the introduction and implementation of a new mezzanine
                      floor and expansion of the Home and Leisure department. Recruit and develop
                      existing colleagues to achieve budgeted sales and other KPI targets for the
Main Achievements     Completed the Asda training program to be appointed as the Home and
                      Leisure Manager in Fareham. Total store sales of £80m, my department
                      budget were £8.5m
                      Responsible for sales, standards, customer service and availability through a
                      management team of 5 and a team of 50 colleagues – rising to 70 at peak
                      Successfully completed additional salesfloor space refit. Opened the department ten
                      days early gaining additional sales. Excellent feedback from Divisional Director and
                      Regional Operation Manager visits

Position              April 1994 – January 2009
                      Store Manger – Woolworths PLC

                      I was with Woolworths for 15 years starting as an Assistant Manager to
                      finally becoming a Senior Store Manager and a Cell Manager. During this
                      time I carried out many roles on behalf of the company, including chairing
                      retail operations meetings and covering the area in the area managers

Main Achievements        Store Manager of Eastleigh 2000-2009 (£3.5m sales). Team of 5 members of
                          management and 35 colleagues.
                         Cell manager of 5 stores (combined sales £12m).Coaching managers, supplying
                          guidance and advice, providing constructive feedback.
                         As a senior manager in the area I chaired meetings and area conference calls as well
                          as covering the area in the area managers’ absences, on all occasions achieving
                          successful KPI’s.
                         Good knowledge of P&L and the levers which drive profitability – all KPI`s were in
                          line. Shrinkage budget achieved 6 years running, positive feedback from both
                          Mystery shopper program and colleagues (Viewpoint).
                         Managed the store to a position of “store of excellence”, achieved a change of
                          performance and perception of the store both internally and externally.
                         Received numerous visits from directors, all with positive feedback.
                         As a Sponsor Manager I was responsible for the training and development of new
                          Assistant and Store Managers. I also participated in succession planning in the area.
                         Other accountabilities included maximizing sales and profit through space planning,
                          liaising with H.O. and reviewing store layouts.
                         I attended regional meetings on my line managers’ behalf and represented the
                          region at the Christmas Cauldron Planning meeting.
                         Prior to my appointment to the Eastleigh Store I was the store manager of Ryde and
                          Woolston. I also deputized a number of roles in the area manager including pro-tem
                          the Southampton store (£8m).

Interests    I am married with two sons, so most of my spare time is taken up with family
