Hello and welcome to the Blog Setup 2.8 guide. In this book you are about to be guided step by step to having your very own profitable blog online. So Who Is Dean Holland ?
Dean himself got started online with a blog and since then he has gone on to make tens of thousands of dollars online and has actually Fired his boss and works full time online at home. Of course he didn't just start and make it right away, in fact quite the opposite. Dean has never hid the fact that he struggled for years and in fact he declared he got himself into around $60,000 worth of debt trying to succeed online. It was in October of 2008 that Dean met top internet marketer Alex Jeffreys. Not only did Dean become a good friend of Alex's but he also paid Alex to be his mentor. Why We Blog ?
Ok, so everyone keeps telling you to start blogging right ?! But why and what the heck do you put on it ? This depends on what niche you are entering really but no matter what market it is, your blog is going to be a social platform that people with the same interests as you and your blog will visit. For example if you have a blog about chocolate labradors then you could keep posting on your blog information about that breed of dog or anything to do with them. This would attract 4
people to your blog that are looking for information about chocolate labradors. With me however I am learning to make money online currently in the 'make money' niche so my blog is like my online journal, a place where I can share with people what it is I am doing to make money online. This is attracting people to my blog that also want to learn to make money online as I am giving away everything I learn for free to anyone that visits. What You Need
Making money online is real business, and just like any business you need a few things to make money – The Essentials ! Of course making money online involves a LOT less money to get started, in fact I would say apart from your domain name you will need about $30 - $40 a month. So what for ? Hosting and an Auto-responder Hosting is what keeps your blog online, without you have no website or blog. Now between myself and friends we have tried many hosting companies and yes there are quite a few good ones around. However I have been introduced to what I now believe to be the BEST host out there, it is not just a hosting company as they also offer a heap of other awesome services. These services really do grow your business, go take a look …. I think you're going to be very impressed
Pro Host Management
If you choose not to go with these just make sure to choose a hosting company that offers hosting with cPanel. You must have cPanel The only other service that is needed to make money online is an auto-responder. An autoresponder is what you use to build an email list. 5
Everyone has heard the saying - “The money is in the list” and it's VERY true so we need this when getting started. The sooner you start to build a list the sooner you will make even more money. I only have one recommendation for this service, quite simply because it's the best there is. Sure there are others but this really is the best, not only the service but the support is really good. If you don't yet have an auto-responder then go with these -

And that's it ! Despite what some may tell you apart from your domain name that's all you need to spend money on, of course there are other things you could buy to make life easier but to get you going and making money that is all you need. With that said time to build a blog ( The easy way ! )
Domain name
Choosing a domain name you have a few things to bear in mind. The nature of your domain name will depend once again on what niche you are entering. I would also recommend you get a domain that ends with .com rather than any of the other options if possible. There are many domain registrars online for you to choose from, you can expect to pay around $8 - $12 per year for it. If you went with Pro Host Management I mentioned in the previous section then you can actually purchase your domain name at the same time from them. This will save you a little time on the next section I am about to discuss. A couple of other good domain registrars if you wish to go elsewhere are ; www.NameCheap.com www.GoDaddy.com

Update Your Name Servers
If you do choose to purchase your domain name separate from your hosting then you will have to do a task called updating your name servers. Don't panic it is very simple to do. When you purchase your hosting you will be given your name servers by your host company. They will look something like this dns6050.prohost.com dns6051.prohost.com Of course the above is just an example and your will vary depending on what host you use but you get the idea. Once you have these I have a video for you to watch that shows you exactly how to do this process to make it even easier for you ….

Once the name servers are updated and they have taken effect we then need to get your blog installed. Name servers can update and a blog installed within minutes but sometimes it can take up to 24 hours.
Installing a Blog ( The EASY Way )
Installing a blog is actually quite simple once you have done it a couple of times. It is actually a case of a few clicks and it's done as long as you got hosting with cPanel. Again I have a video for you showing you exactly how its done ….

Google Analytics
When you have any kind of website or blog you must be tracking how many people are coming to your site. You can do this with free software provided by Google. Not only will Google Analytics show you how many visits you have but it will also show you a lot of other useful information. For example you can also see where exactly where your visitors are coming from, this allows you to put more time into the activities that generate you the most traffic. To get analytics you first need a free Google account, you may actually already have one if you have a Gmail account. Either way you need to go to the below link and signup www.analytics.google.com Once you have got your analytics account and you have entered your domain you then must set it up on your blog. This used to be a little tricky but with the latest plugin option it is real simple. See this next video on exactly how to install analytics on your blog

You are now all set to track your traffic !! Put the information it provides to good use my friend, it can save you a lot of wasted tasks if you know which tasks produce the results and which do not. When you first install you blog it all comes with a default look, the theme it comes with as standard is pretty boring and plain. There are hundreds and hundreds of free themes out there that you can use, there are also some better premium themes that you can purchase. A simple Google search for free wordpress themes will bring you many to choose from A good starting place for themes is the official Wordpress.org website, you can take a look at hundreds of themes on there by visiting the link below www.Wordpress.org/extend/themes/ When you find a theme you like you must then download the file for the theme, the file is normally a ZIP file. When you do this save the file somewhere on your computer that you will remember. Once you have the ZIP file saved to your computer you then need to upload the file to your hosting account and then activate it. Here is a video showing exactly how to do this step

By now you should have your domain name, have a blog installed and should have it starting to look how you want with a new theme. Feel good yet ? Well you should because you already have just started your own online business just like I have and just like my mentor did. Most of the setup is now complete but we just have a few more things to do, let's get them done and you are all set to go !!
Plugins
Plugins are things you can install on your blog, each plugin serves a different purpose. There are hundreds if not thousands of plugins available for you to use so as you continue building your business you will learn more and discover which plugins you want to use. There are however a few plugins that I suggest you install from the start to make life a lot easier and to protect your blog.

Installing plugins is VERY easy with the new feature in Wordpress 2.8, you simply search the plugin name and click to install, all from within your admin area ! Here's another quick video showing hows it's done, below the video are the names of the plugins I suggest you install to get you started

* Please refer to the video in the previous section for how to activate the analytics plugin ** Please note to activate Akismet you must sign up for a free account at www.wordpress.com as you need what is called an API key code. You will find this under your profile in your www.wordpress.com dashboard area. Remember there are many other plugins for you to use, as you progress you will discover which you wish to add but the above list are what I would call the essentials.
Creating Your Own Email Accounts
So now you have your own blog started and running you really want your own email address. You see as you are now running your own online business you want to give that professional look right ? So no more Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail accounts to be handed out, now you want your own domain email address ! For example - admin@yourdomain.com This is quite simple to do, there is a simple video below showing how to do this
