The Last Report….of 2006!
_____Step 1 - Find and read an entire book of poetry. The poems can all be
written by one poet, or the book can be a collection of poems by different
poets. Check your book with my by Friday, December 15th.
_____Step 2 – Read aloud at least 5 poems to someone at home. Fill out
the attached form and have the listener(s) sign it.
_____Step 3 – Now that you have read plenty of poems, you must write
your own poem. Your poem can be silly or serious, real or imaginary.
It can be about an animal, a food, a friend, a place, or an experience. You
can write about anything that interests you!
Your poem must be at least 10 lines long. It does not have to rhyme,
but it can. It should be written neatly or typed. It should also be decorated
with illustrations that you drew. You must draw the pictures. No
computer graphics should be used.
_____Step 4 – You have to memorize your poem and recite it in front of the
class. You should bring in at least 3 props to help you recite the poem. If
you are bringing in a “live” prop, such as your pet or a younger brother or
sister, or a prop too big to carry on the bus, I will have to coordinate a
day/time with your parents. If your parents want to see you perform, I will
work with them to coordinate a day/time.
Due Date: A schedule will be sent home before vacation. There will be 4
poetry presentations per day. Presentations will begin on Wednesday,
