PAY AND GRADING REVIEW
Hampshire County Council (HCC) is currently undertaking a Pay and Grading
review with the aim of modernising and updating its current pay
arrangements. All local authorities across the country are similarly reviewing
their arrangements as part of a National agreement.
The project will simplify the pay and grading arrangements for our roles and
offer our staff a package which reflects individual contributions to school and
corporate objectives. All jobs, with the exception of Teachers and a few other
groups for whom alternative arrangements are currently determined
nationally, are affected.
In addition, the project is also taking the opportunity to make amendments to
the standard terms and conditions for all staff in a number of areas including
annual leave, notice periods and allowances.
As you are currently considering a role within HCC, we would like to make you
aware of the key events and timescales leading up to the implementation of
February 2007 – Letters have been issued to existing members of
staff included within the scope of the project advising them of their
proposed new grade, salary and any changes to allowances or
additional payments made.
Discussions are currently taking place with Trade Unions on the
proposed new pay framework.
Following the outcome of these discussions, the intention would then be to
issue a further letter to staff outlining the pay arrangements under the new
pay framework. Pay changes arising from the new framework will be applied
We will update you throughout the recruitment process wherever possible to
ensure that you are provided with as much information on any effect the
project may have on the post for which you are applying.
