Topic: Academic Advising: One-on-One Advising Periods
Length of Class: 30 minutes
Does this lesson require a “pre-class” activity? Create a list of potential appointment times for
students to sign up for. Remind students bring along their Degree Progress Report to the meeting
1. To meet with students one-on-one in order to create their upcoming class schedules.
2. To provide students with a connection to ask questions about advising issues.
3. To review how to use SOLAR for academic purposes.
I. Students show up to pre-scheduled appointments with you to discuss scheduling
and advising issues.
II. Review SOLAR use for academic purposes (see textbook or advisor for help)

III. Recommend that if students have specific major or minor questions, to visit the
academic department and speak to an advisor.
