					                          Programming Altera EPC1PC8 ROM

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
  1. Laptop loaded with Altera programming software. May require dongle.
  2. Altera Programming Unit (APU) with Multi Programming Unit (MPU)
     PLMJ1213 Adapter.
  3. APU Power Supply.
  4. APU USB cable.


SOFTWARE REQUIRED
  1. Altera programming software.
  2. EPC configuration files for the given project loaded onto the laptop.


SET UP
   1. Plug the dongle into the laptop parallel port.
   2. Plug the APU power supply into the APU and a 115 VAC outlet.
   3. Plug one end of the USB cable into the APU and the other end into the laptop
      USB port.


PROGRAMMING

        Start Altera Software.
   1.   Select "Start".
   2.   Select "Programs".
   3.   Select "Altera" folder.
   4.   Select "MAX+plus II 10.1".

        Select Project To Be Programmed.
   5.   From the menu bar select "File".
   6.   Select "Project".
   7.   Select "Name".
   8.   Select the appropriate directory and file name (e:\altera\ipicm\ipicm.gdf)
   9.   Select "Ok".

       Enable Programming Mode.
   10. From the menu bar select "MAX+plus II".
   11. Select "Programmer". The "Programmer" window will now appear.

       Select File To Be Programmed.
   12. From the menu bar select "File".
   13. Select "Select Programming File".
   14. Select "e:\altera\ipicm\ipicm.pof".
   15. Select "Ok".

       Program IC.
   16. Insert the IC to be programmed into the upper half of the programming socket.
       Be careful to note the pin 1 location.
   17. Back on the "Programmer" menu, select "Blank-Check" to verify the IC is erased.
       A window will appear to let you know if it is. Select "Ok".
   18. Back on the "Programmer" menu, select "Program". When programming is
       complete, a window will appear to let you know if programming was successful.
       Select "Ok".
   19. Remove the programmed IC.
   20. Label the IC with a sticker showing the current version ('01' at this writing).
   21. Return to step 16 for next IC else continue.

       Finish Up.
   22. Close the "Programming" window.
   23. Close the "MAX+plus II" program window.
   24. Unplug the programmer and dongle and return them to storage.
