JOB TYPE: Permanent, Full-Time LOCATION: Augusta
EFFECTIVE DATE: October 26, 2012 CLOSING DATE: November 8, 2012
DESCRIPTION: As the Director of Correctional Habilitation, your will oversee the development,
implementation, and continuity of coordinated and effective behavioral programming related to the risks
and needs of juvenile corrections clients. Your work includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the
work of Regional Offices to ensure that the behavioral needs of clients are identified and addressed and
to ensure that staff is well trained, well supervised, and competent; collaboration with other state
agencies, social service agencies, task groups, and private providers to ensure effective and quality
outcomes for mutual clients and their families; and oversight of Systems of Care and other Federal
Grants within the Division of Juvenile Services to ensure that all federal and state requirements are met.
You will also represent the Associate Commissioner of Juvenile Community Corrections at all events
and for all other purposes when the Associate Commissioner is unavailable.
In order to be successful in this field you will need to have knowledge in areas such as:
Juvenile criminal codes.
Policy formation and implementation.
Evidence-based practices and principles.
Management and supervisory principles and practices.
Social service agencies.
Treatment modalities and community resources.
As well, you must have the ability to:
Research effective approaches and analyze data related to client outcomes.
Effectively manage people and resources.
Incorporate evidence-based practices into daily activities.
Pursue grant opportunities, including writing proposals and grants management.
Exercise discretion and sound judgment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or a related field, which
includes juvenile counseling, juvenile corrections and/or risk focused rehabilitation. Equivalent related
work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Level 2: 95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%): $345.58 biweekly
Level 3: 90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%): $327.39 biweekly
Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%): $309.20 biweekly
* The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee's
wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2012.
Value of State paid Dental Insurance: $13.69 bi-weekly
Value of State's share of employee retirement contribution = 12.27% of pay
