                            EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR

                                   Child Minder – Part time
                              Starting Salary $15.85: 17.5 Hours/week

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Prepare the setting before the children arrive and tidy and secure everything before you leave.
    Develop a daily program schedule that include indoor active/quiet and individual and group activities.
    Plan and implement a quality, age appropriate program for the young children of students attending the
      LMNHS ELSA Program
    Create an environment that fosters positive self-concept and reflects the cultural diversity of the
      children.
    Plan activities which will support and encourage English language learning while valuing and
      maintaining the first language
    Write program reports and reports on progress, behavior and other issues
    Welcome and become acquainted with parents and orient them to the program
    Inform, guide and support other program staff and volunteers as required
    Maintain a clean and orderly environment by ensuring all toys are in clean working order
    Attend to the children’s physical needs that may include diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping
    Administer first aid in accordance with established policy
    Attend and participate in team meetings and workshops
    Maintain attendance records
    Direct parents to the appropriate resources and other professionals when needed

Qualifications:
   Valid Early Childhood Education Certificate
   Considerable experience working with children 18 months to 6 years of age
   Valid First aid Certificate and TB test (within last two years)
   Current Criminal Record Certificate
   An interest (and preferably experience) in working within a multi-ethnic community
   On-going commitment to second language
   Demonstrated ability to work in the team environment
   Willingness to work with volunteers and other children’s staff
   Second language is an asset
