                      Appointment of ICT & Business Studies Teacher
                                   from January 2013

Technology Faculty
The successful candidate will join the large, committed and enthusiastic Technology team of 9
teaching staff and 4 support staff. The Technological Studies faculty includes the subject
areas of Resistant Materials, Product Design, Catering, Textiles, ICT, Media and Business

You will join a lively team of four specialist ICT teachers led by a Head of Department with a
commitment to E Learning. The department includes ICT, Business Studies and Media
Studies and plays a significant part in the school’s success with 83% of our students passing
a Business Diploma and 68% gaining a Certificate in Business.

All classrooms at Brighton Hill Community School are fitted with staff desktop computers with
College Network, Internet and SIMS access. The faculty accommodation is very well-
resourced and maintained with six ICT suites which have benefitted from generous
investment as part of the School’s commitment to E Confidence. In addition to this, the
faculty enjoys:

            The support of a Network Manager, two ICT technicians and an ICT classroom

            Specialist ICT classroom management software Impero.

            A well resourced Learning Platform that is the touch point for curriculum development

            An on-going development strategy with significant investment in new technologies,
             Multimedia tools and online electronic marking linked to APP.

Person Specification

The successful applicant will:

           Fully commit to the vision and ethos of this rapidly improving school
           Hold a Bachelor Degree or Higher Qualification
           Have been awarded qualified teacher status
           Have the potential to be an outstanding practitioner
           Be a dynamic and enthusiastic classroom practitioner who puts learning at the centre
            of their teaching and has outstanding classroom skills
           Have effective personal, written and oral communication skills
           Have the resilience and capacity to handle a varied workload

       Have a clear understanding of assessment procedures at both Key Stage 3 and Key
        Stage 4
       Have the capacity to develop an extensive repertoire of classroom management
        strategies and a clear understanding of what constitutes excellence in teaching and
       Have a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of behaviour exhibited by all
       Be sympathetic to the aims of our Specialism
       Have a passion for teaching and can inspire others
       Have professional integrity and high expectations of self and others
       Effectively use ICT software packages to promote high quality learning
       Be able to recognise when help/advice/guidance is needed and seek it
       Effectively analyse data with a view to positively impacting on student progress

This school is under a Notice to Improve from Ofsted. However, we are currently on a
trajectory of rapid improvement and we are therefore seeking the right person to contribute
