If you have a creative idea that will help your students better meet the history social science
standards, please use the attached form to apply for a mini-grant. Grant funds could be used for
materials, program curriculum, software, or professional development to enhance your unit.

HISTORY—SOCIAL SCIENCE MINI-GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS
Only employees of Inyo County districts/schools/sites may apply for a mini-grant.
Please submit your mini-grant application and proposal using the forms in this packet.
Proposals may be hand written or typed. You can also download the application from the Inyo
County Superintendent of Schools website, www.inyo.k12.ca.us.
We will consider only complete and legible applications.
Applications must be approved and signed by the principal or site administrator.
Remember to keep a copy of your completed application and proposal for your records.
Successful grantees will be notified by September 28th and funds will be disbursed to the
districts October 12, 2012.

HISTORY—SOCIAL SCIENCE MINI-GRANT EVALUATION CRITERIA
Complement school curriculum and state objectives. Please refer to the standards your project
Provide maximum educational benefits in relation to cost.
State expected student outcomes.
Interdisciplinary or team-teaching projects are encouraged. Each teacher on the team may apply
for $300.00 individual grant maximum.
Grants may be used to compensate experts who come to work with the students, but not to pay for
teachers or staff during school time. Grants could be used to fund non-contract work hours of school
staff in accordance with a grantee’s respective district policy.
Funds may be used to purchase equipment or provide field trip or transportation costs.
NOTE: Any materials/equipment acquired through a mini-grant will remain the property
of the applicant’s site or school district.

4. Description of any problems/difficulties you encounter with your project
5. A paragraph describing your project activities
6. Some photos of the project in action, if available
