This position is for an internship under the Pathways Internship Program as a Student
Trainee (Engineering) at Edgewood Chem Bio Center, Rock Island, Illinois.
This position will not exceed 1 year. Extensions while still in school may be possible.
You must be a current student enrolled in an accredited college or university at least half
time, seeking a Engineering degree. Students must maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA.
Pathways Internship Program:
The Pathways Internship Program is for current students and individuals accepted for
enrollment in a qualifying educational program. It replaces the existing Student Career
Experience Program (SCEP) and Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP). The
internship Program provides students enrolled in a variety of educational institutions with
paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school.
Veterans Preference applies to selection for position in the Pathways Program.
Interns may work full-time or part-time schedules.
-Have on-the-job experience which involves the practical application of engineering
principles, procedures, processes, regulations and reference material.
-Performs pre-professional engineering duties within such fields as industrial, electrical,

variety of non-standardized sources
-Recognize errors which require a limited knowledge of the subject matter
-Determine apparent causes of deviations in test data
-Performs directed readings, assists in specific operations, and participates in discussions
and meetings relative to work assignments.
GS-03: Completion of 1 academic year of post-high school study
GS-04: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or associate’s degree
An Academic year of undergraduate education:
-A minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours at an accredited college or university; or
a minimum of 36 weeks at an accredited business, technical, vocational, or qualifying
educational institution for at least 20 classroom hours per week.
The required education must lead to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or
university with specialization in or directly related to the field of Engineering in which
the student trainees will receive training on the job.
