Extensive experience as an English-French freelance translator specializing in technical subjects and
working alone or as part of a team on special large projects. Advanced computer skills, both on PC and
on Macintosh. Very experienced voice talent and consecutive interpreter.
Professional background
1988 – present Freelance translator (full-time since 2000)
Technical translation work for various clients, including such companies as Millenium
Chemicals, ExxonMobil, BP, Hess, Varco, FMC, Hytorc, Belanger, Bulova, Derco, Northrop
Grumman, Lockheed. Numerous very large projects for companies in the oil and gas
industry, including technical documents and contracts, contingency plans, safety and
security procedures, environmental plans, manuals. Translation of a proposal by RTKL, a
Baltimore, MD, architectural design firm, for the extension of the “Grand Axe” at La Défense,
in Paris. Translation of numerous manuals and training presentations for the SAP system.
Translation and QA testing for large software localization projects for AspenTech,
Manugistics (supply chain management), and Blackboard (e-learning), including the
translation of the Help section of Blackboard. Extensive experience in the translation of
videos and TV shows for Worldnet Television and Voice of America on a variety of topics
ranging from tourism and American history to business and science. Contributing translator
of the book "Interior Ballistic of Guns," published in France by Masson. Extensive voice over
experience, including work for the United Nations, the World Bank, the Smithsonian
Institution, the Discovery Channel and Intel, among others. Voice talent and television host
(live shows in French and/or English) for Voice of America Television in Washington, DC.
Experience in consecutive interpreting for depositions, for meetings between French officials
and representatives of the Government of the United States.
1990 – 2000 Research Physicist with the U.S. Army Ballistic Research Laboratory and the U.S. Army
Research Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
1987 – 1990 Senior Staff Member for Applied Concepts Corporation, Winchester, VA, in charge of a
contract with the Department of Defense.
1980 – 1987 Research Engineer with the Société Nationale des Poudres et Explosifs, Research Center of
Le Bouchet, France. In charge of all the proposal activities within a joint venture with
Brunswick Corporation in Marion, VA.
Education
• MS in Mechanical Engineering from the École Nationale de Mécanique et d'Aérotechnique in Poitiers,
France, 1975.
• Completed doctoral courses and research work towards doctorate in Thermodynamics, University of
Poitiers, France, 1980.

• Advanced computer skills on IBM-PC and Macintosh platforms. Proficient with TRADOS, Microsoft Excel,
Word, and PowerPoint, Adobe PageMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.
• Professional singer (10 seasons with the Baltimore Opera Chorus, 2 seasons with the Washington Opera
Chorus, 9 years with a fully professional choir at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Great Falls, VA,
