Academy is a heavily oversubscribed mixed Church of England school for students aged between 11 and 19 years,
close to Chelsea’s famous King’s Road. It opened in September 2009, has places for 162 students per year group and
will grow each year until 2014.
Chelsea Academy combines traditional values and high standards with an innovative approach to learning and
teaching and a strong commitment to student leadership and co-construction. The Academy’s first specialism is the
sciences. Visitors to the school have consistently commented on the high standards of behaviour, enthusiasm for
learning and confidence of our students, as well as the Academy’s stunning brand new £43m building. The Academy
was judged as making outstanding progress in its first Ofsted inspection in July 2011
The Academy is seeking to appoint staff with personal qualities and skills of the highest order, to help ensure that it
continues to be a truly outstanding school. We are seeking to appoint an Administration Officer with a calm, warm
manner; excellent communication, organisational and ICT skills; in order to provide administrative support and
undertake secretarial duties for the Academy. Duties will include: typing correspondence and producing documents;
processing post and bulk photocopying.

PAY: Scale 2-3, actual salary £14,934 - £17,495 (£17,181 -
£20,127 full time equivalent) depending on experience
RESPONSIBLE TO: Office Manager
WORKING HOURS: 36 hours per week, term time only
REQUIRED FROM: As soon as possible
Purpose: To provide administrative support and to undertake secretarial and clerical
duties for the Academy and Faculties.
Reporting to: Office Manager
Working time: 36 hours per week
Type a variety of correspondence ensuring that documents are produced to the required standard
and time scales. This will involve using standard templates and creating templates or layouts to
suit individual documents.
To create and maintain Faculty display boards across the Academy
To provide a reprographics service for Academy staff, printing and photocopying documents as
required in a timely and efficient manner.
Reception cover – on occasion only, To act as first point of reference, receive callers, students,
parents, supply teachers, visitors adhering to the Academy’s child protection policy and
procedures. Field all telephone enquiries in a timely and efficient manner. Offer helpful, friendly,
approachable service providing information about the Academy. Take appropriate action to refer
callers to the most appropriate member of staff.
To process the Academy’s incoming and outgoing post ensuring that post is distributed /
dispatched in good time.
Assisting and supporting student receptionist programme each day.
Undertake a range of administrative activities on a project basis in support of the Office Manager,
e.g., collating student reports, collating information for Academy events, admissions, uniform
Familiarise oneself with the Academy branding and incorporate this in all documentation and
written communication throughout.
To use the room and visitor booking system (Saferoom and Safepass)
Occasionally assist with parents consultation meetings and open evenings
Other duties as required and determined by the demands of providing clerical support to faculty.

The Academy is a new school that will not reach student capacity for five years. As such, we expect staffing
to change significantly during this period and we will require a high degree of flexibility from all staff as duties
may be varied as the Academy grows in line with the student and staffing numbers.
