OVERVIEW
The National Organizing Committee for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 is looking to fill the
position of Director, Stadium & Operations. Held every four years, the FIFA Women’s World Cup is the
largest women’s sporting event in the world. In 2011, the Canadian Soccer Association was awarded the
right to stage the 2015 edition of this prestigious event, as well as the hosting rights to the FIFA U-20
Women’s World Cup Canada 2014.
The Director, Stadium & Operations is responsible for providing leading the national operations planning
and support for all stadia, training ground and infrastructure operations during the Competitions. This
position, located at the National headquarters in Ottawa, ON, will manage the Stadium Operations of
the Competitions at the National level, as well as contribute to the operational programming and
planning with the Venue offices located in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and
Moncton. Specific areas of focus include:
     Stadium Operations and Management
     Training Grounds Operations and Management
     Spectator Experience
     Vendors and Contractors
     National Facilities Management

As part of the Stadium & Operations team for the FWWC Canada 2015, the Director, Stadium &
Operations will contribute to the overall success of the Competitions, by:
     Developing comprehensive plans and procedures for the management of all stadia during the
        Competitions
     Oversee the coordination of National planning via Managers, Stadium & Operations (Venue) to
        ensure consistency across all Venues
     Creating innovative programs and concepts to maximize the fan experience throughout the
        Competitions
     Effectively planning and monitoring budgets and expenditures to efficiently operate the
        Competitions, while recognizing financial constraints
     Providing input and recommendations to enhance the overall operation of the Competitions
        across all domains

       Assisting the Chief Stadium & Operations Officer in fulfilling the requirements and expectations
        of FIFA, the NOC and other stakeholders of the Competitions

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    Stadium Management
          o Overlay & Construction – assist in the management and delivery of Overlay &
              Construction requirements for stadia and associated facilities
          o Operations Planning – develop operations plans and procedures for National Stadia
              Operations for implementation across all venues during the Competitions; liaise with
              participating Stadium Operators to review and coordinate best practices across all
              Venues for national consistency
          o Stadium Staffing – develop concepts and principles to implement for national staffing
              across all Stadia; manage financial planning of staffing costs and expenses in conjunction
              with MSO(Venue)
          o Design & Décor – in conjunction with NOC & FIFA Marketing, execute the national
              branding and décor strategy across all Venues, including Stadium, Training Ground, all
              other Facilities and TBD applications of the décor program
    Fan Experience
          o Access, Parking & Transit – develop national plans and concepts for Fan access, and in
              conjunction with Director Transport the parking and transit operations; assist Venues in
              developing strategies to coordinate access, parking and transit strategies to manage
              match day expectations
          o Signage and Wayfinding – manage stadia signage and wayfinding program, as part of
              décor applications, to ensure Competition specific signage is in place in all Venues
          o Neighborhood Coordination – develop program requirements and coordinate national
              efforts to ensure ‘Good neighbor’ programs are implemented for match day, move
              in/move out, etc planning with areas adjacent to stadia and training grounds
          o Merchandise and concessions – in conjunction with NOC and FIFA Marketing, manage
              the coordinated efforts for FIFA Merchandise operations; in conjunction with NOC and
              FIFA Marketing, coordinate national concessions policies and procedures to ensure
              consistent branding, application, décor, and goods and services are available
    Vendors and Contractors
          o Logistics & Procurement – lead National Stadium & Operations procurement and
              purchasing thru the Manager, Logistics
          o Partners & Supporters – manage Stadium & Operations expectations and requirements
              of FIFA Partners and NOC National Supporters
    Training Grounds Operations Plan
          o Overlay & Construction – lead the design, development and implementation of Training
              Ground overlay and construction via existing contractors and consultants
          o Staffing and Security – in conjunction with the Director, Public Safety, develop national
              security and staffing plans for Training Ground operations for implementation at the
              Venue level
    Facilities
          o Venue Offices – assist in the operation and management of Venue Offices nationally; act
              as primary contact with landlords on operational issues for Venue offices

       Internal Management
            o Develop and maintain working relationships across departments of Competitions,
                Marketing & Communications and Finance & Administration
            o Develop, manage & maintain project timelines, milestones and key tasks to ensure
                deliverable targets are met
            o As needed, develop job descriptions and posting for upcoming hires; assist in the
                interview and screening positions for potential candidates
            o Manage, develop and lead direct and indirect reports to enhance their professional and
                technical skills

    Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Sport Management
       or equivalent.
    • Five to seven years of progressive leadership experience in sport management, facility
       operations and special event operations
    • Several years in management and team leadership positions
    • Experience in international sporting event management, with soccer experience preferred
    • Strong strategic planning and tactical delivery skills, to translate plans into actions
    • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external
       stakeholders
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
    • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills

     Travel may be required, up to 50%
