DUTY STATEMENT
In accordance with Directorate Policies
1 Support the planning, scope and scheduling of audits of funded Vocational Education and
Training (VET) programs and continuous improvement of the associated information and
reporting systems.
2 Work as a member of audit teams to carry out the scheduled audit program according to
specified requirements, and write up comprehensive reports of the audit findings.
3 Liaise with industry, business, government agencies, the community and professional
organisations and represent the directorate as appropriate in the management of
compliance.
4 Research, prepare or coordinate submissions, papers and correspondence on policy,
technical or administrative issues and projects in relation to VET in the ACT.
5 Provide advice to managers on matters relating to the policies and practices in the ACT
and national VET sectors, in particular in relation to compliance with contract and service
delivery requirements
6 Assist in the management, development, monitoring and evaluation of information
systems and business processes supporting Skills Reform.

SELECTION CRITERIA
1 Ability to assist with the planning, scope, scheduling and conduct of audits and the
associated reporting to senior officers.
2 Well developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to
represent the Directorate in local forums, liaise with stakeholders and staff at all
levels, and write reports on relevant achievements and developments in the
Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
3 Detailed understanding of VET systems, current reforms, relevant legislation and
current issues, or the ability to quickly develop the understanding.
4 Capacity to undertake research and analysis to support development,
implementation and monitoring of policy initiatives for VET in the ACT.
5 Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage a variety of tasks within tight
deadlines and limited resources, with a flexible and innovative approach to problem
solving.
6 Ability to apply equity and diversity, participative management and occupational
health and safety principles and practices in the workplace.
Desirable:
7 Experience and formal training in compliance and auditing.
