                                                            QCT Standards ‘ePortfolio’

1065 Bachelor of Adult and Vocational Education
To be eligible for teacher registration in Queensland at the completion of the Bachelor of Adult and Vocational Education (BAVE) or Graduate Diploma of Adult and Vocational
Education (GDAVE), students need to demonstrate that they have engaged with the ten Professional Standards for Queensland Teachers established by the Queensland
College of Teachers (QCT). The Professional Standards describe the abilities, knowledge, understandings and professional values expected of Queensland teachers. Full
details of these standards can be found on the QCT website:
        http://www.qct.edu.au/Publications/ProfessionalStandards/ProfessionalStandardsForQldTeachers2006.pdf
The range of courses offered in the Griffith University Bachelor of Adult and Vocational Education and Graduate Diploma of Adult and Vocational Education have been so
designed that at the end of the program of studies, all ten standards will have been met. These programs have been approved by the Queensland College of Teachers for
registration purposes, and students will be required to complete an ePortfolio to map their learning against the standards.
There are four columns in the ePortfolio. The first provides the title and scope of the standard. The second provides the detail of the practice, knowledge and values imbedded
in each standard. The third provides the mapping of Griffith AVE degree course codes to each dot point for each standard. The fourth is where you will record your critical
assessment of evidence (up to 200 words) of meeting the standard, indicating:
 how you meet each of the 10 Professional Standards through course work in your program, professional experience, and pre-service teaching practice; and
 What you see more generally as relevant attributes you possess as an effective teacher.
In deliberating your responses, some questions may help, such as:
     1. What course work evidences the standard?
     2. What did you learn that is consistent with the standard?
     3. What teaching and learning strategies have you used that evidence the standards?
     4. How has your engagement with the culture of adult and vocational education helped you meet the standard?

PLEASE NOTE:
1. If you are starting your degree program and received this ePortfolio document by emailing the Program Convenor, you will gradually respond to the ePortfolio as you
progress through your various courses. Note, that the ePortfolio is assessed within the 4231EBL or Advanced Vocational Teaching Strategies course; so you do not need to
submit the ePortfolio until you are enrolled in that course. That means that your ePortfolio will be in the final stages of completion before enrolling in the 4231EBL course. Your
engagement in that course will allow you to finalise your ePortfolio commitment ready for assessment.
2. If you are a continuing student, you may have to start and complete the ePortfolio completely within the 4231EBL or Advanced Vocational Teaching Strategies course
because you would have already progressed through the courses in your program and from that experience you will critically reflect on your learning achievements to evidence
the standards.
3. Refer to Course Outlines for information about how to get the ePortfolio document, the response requirement, and how to submit your ePortfolio for assessment.
