How to build a niche and authority website
- Quick crash course from Vita Vee – http://VitaVee.com/forums
Introduction
In this short report we’re going to see how to build a powerful niche and authority website that Google will love. To do this we will extract some data from the very useful options panel of Google search. The options are not available in all countries, so to ensure you can follow along, use this version of Google: http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en
Our Niche Topics
In this example, we’re going to pursue the “bowling balls” niche. This report is not about market research so I won’t explain how and why I have decided to target this niche. When you want to build a new authority website, the first thing to do is to find related and relevant themes in the eyes of Google. Ideally you should start a new niche website with a minimum of 10 unique articles and add new articles on a regular basis (at least once a week). Now the question is: “How do find relevant themes in the eyes of Google?” Let’s Google tell us… Type “bowling balls” in the search box and submit your query. Then click on “Show Options” like in the screenshot below:
Then click on “Related searches” in the left sidebar:
Now just look at the top of the screen, you will get ideas for different themes:
So thanks to the Related searches option we now have 6 themes: • • • • • • Bowling balls Bowling shoes Bowling games Bowling shirts Bowling tips Bowling bags
Go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal Select the language and country you’re targeting, enter your 6 themes in the keyword box, uncheck the “Use Synonyms” box and in the “Filter my results” section, check the “Don't show ideas for new keywords” checkbox:
Then in the “Choose columns to display” list, select the “Show Estimated Avg. CPC”.
It will show you how much money advertisers are willing to pay for these broad topics. In red I have circled 2 themes that I won’t use because of their low value:
So I’m left with 4 themes, which is a good start: • • • • Bowling shirts Bowling bags Bowling balls Bowling shoes
The Article Topics
We now have to determine the best article topics for each of these themes. This is done in 2 steps.
