HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MEETING

Thank you to Dr. Ficarra, the Central Office Staff, AH Staff, and our parents and students for
helping us to achieve a smooth and successful opening week.
Thank you to the following families (parents and students) for volunteering to be tour guides
and assist with our Open House on September 5th: Barna, Crofford, Genrich, Heher, McAllister,
Olson, and Scott.
Thank you to Mrs. Stevens for volunteering to send eblasts this year.

We have two programs to recognize positive student behavior this year. Ride with Pride
recognizes positive behavior on the busses. SNAP Ambassadors acknowledges students who
show care and compassion towards classmates with special needs.
A new phone system has been installed. We apologize as we are experiencing congestion on
the phone lines during arrival and dismissal times. Phone technicians are working hard to
correct this problem and teachers will have voicemail in the near future.
Remember! The Morris School District no longer sends home flyers. Go to the MSD or AH
websites and click on Digital Backpack to view all flyers. AH is also going paperless. We will
be posting all information on our website and sending it out via eblast this year. Please be sure
to give us your email address and sign up for AH ENews by sending a blank email to
email@example.com. If you do not have access to email, we will send
home hard copies of important information.

Mrs. Ferrer has moved from BSI to become a Grade 3 Classroom Teacher.
Mr. Miragliotta has moved from BSI to become a Grade 4 Classsroom Teacher.
Mrs. Ferraiolo and Mrs. Lori Murphy are now BSI Teachers.
Ms. Fainglas, Ms. Hill, Ms. Neu, Mrs. Noonan, and Mrs. Badalamenti have
resigned to pursue new career opportunities. We wish them good luck with their

Mrs. Baker is now a teacher assistant at Hillcrest School.
Mrs. Summer has moved to Normandy Park School
Mr. Marigliano has moved to MHS to begin an ABA program there.

Petra Wiehe, one of our 4th grade teachers, is now Petra Lieberman.

Harrassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Prevention Policy: Please see our Parent Handbook
and the MSD website for information pertaining to this policy based on NJ State Law, which
went into effect September 2011.
Cell phones: Students who bring cell phones to school must keep them turned off or on vibrate
in their backpacks. Phones may not be used in school without the permission of the classroom
teacher in case of an emergency. Please call the main office if you need to contact your child
during the school day. Alexander Hamilton School cannot be responsible for any personal
electronic devices that students bring to school.
We will mail home NJ ASK Individual Student Reports at the end of September. In order to
better prepare students for taking the NJ ASK test, we will be selecting students for Academic
After School, which will begin in November. We will also have one period of test preparation
for all students every D-day beginning in March.
The Auditorium is almost complete and is being inspected today.
o New Reading Units of Study which are aligned with the Common Core State Standards
for English Language Arts are being introduced this school year.
o We have ordered new Everyday Math Journals which are aligned with the Common
Core State Standards for Mathematics.
o Reading and Writing Continuums will be shared at November and April conferences.
All students will receive Progress Reports in February and June.
We will continue our Environmental Programs and make improvements to our Ecology Center
during this school year. Thank you to Nadine Genrich who will be coordinating programs in the
Ecology Center. We would also like to thank Erin Colfax (MHS Science Academy Teacher),
Wanda Knapik (President of My Local Garden) and 11 very special MHS student volunteers
who worked in our Ecology Center for an entire week in July!
