Oregon Diversity Institute Conference CALL FOR PRESENTERS November 6-8, 2008● Umpqua Community College Roseburg, Oregon You are invited to submit a presentation for the 15th Annual Oregon Diversity Institute Conference. Do you have an exemplary program that is addressing historic and contemporary issues of access, social justice, human rights, and equity through the promotion of respectful, open and honest interactions among people and communities of diverse abilities and backgrounds? This year’s conference theme is to bring about individual self awareness and the opportunities to UNLEARN the biases, stereotypes, prejudices, hate, and –isms that one may unconsciously carry… This conference draws youth, community members, and staff from community college and university campuses to come together to discuss common issues, success and challenges. Before you submit your proposal, please read the following conditions: Speaker/presenter expenses are not covered by the conference: i.e. travel or lodging. Presenters who attend the conference must also complete the Registration Form, but do not need to pay registration fee. In the case of multiple presenters who plan to attend the conference, please contact Michelle with the Community Education Office at 541-440-4600. Speakers/presenters should provide sufficient copies (40 each) of any handouts for the audience. Some technology is available. Please indicate what you need on the proposal, and we will communicate with you about available equipment. Guidelines for Submission Please complete the Conference Presentation Proposal form. The conference planning team will try to accommodate all presentations according to the presenters’ stated preferences, but may reassign presentations according to conference program needs. Co-presentations by secondary, post-secondary partners and college/university partners are encouraged. Summary Review Process Presentation proposals will be reviewed by members of the ODI Conference Planning Team. The following minimum criteria for presentation proposal acceptance will be used: Adherence to presentation proposal submission instructions Relevance to the conference theme and goals Potential for engaging participants in meaningful discussion through experiential learning techniques Clarity of presentation proposal and participant learning objectives Priority Submission Deadline October 1, 2008, but will accept proposals after this deadline, subject to available space.
