11th Symposium – Diversity of Solutions

The transmission with all the different types has become ever more important due to the electrification of the drivetrain
as well as the pressure to improve efficiency, comfort, dynamics and safety.

New active transmissions with integrated electric motors for electric and hybrid drives are presented and promoted almost every
month. Passenger car transmissions, e.g. DCTs, ATs with up to nine speeds and CVTs, compete in different markets and vitalise
in the truest sense of the word the business. MTs and AMTs are still dominating the market – to some extent not only the volume
market. In terms of commercial vehicles, the cost benefit ratio is an important factor in choosing one type of transmission and
drivetrain over the other. The potential for development is not yet exploited.

On the contrary:
There is a lot of potential in terms of dynamics, comfort, cost, mass and installation space. If the difference between a cycle-related,
average degree of efficiency and the optimum is in the double digit range, too many kilowatts are wasted. The interaction between
torque generator and torque converter can still be improved. Developing custom-made solutions complying with market and
application while taking diversity, complexity and cost into account is a challenge – and at the same time demand –
for all drivetrain engineers.

This year’s symposium will again focus on the overall development of conventional as well as hybrid and electric drives,
state-of-the-art technologies and we take a glimpse into the future. Conference topics include:
market-specific influences and constraints in terms of drivetrain and transmission development,
potential to increase comfort, driving pleasure and safety and reduce fuel and energy consumption by using
new transmission concepts, drivetrain topologies, components and control/display elements,
development tools, production technologies, lightweight design and optimum functioning of all drivetrain and
   transmission components and systems.

This symposium is intended for system and component suppliers, vehicle manufacturers and market experts.
Please send us your presentation proposal for the 11th CTI Symposium, we are looking forward to it.
Best regards
